April 2005 - Nine young Australians were arrested attempting to smuggle 8.3kg of heroin out of Bali. Indonesian authorities were working on a tip from the Australian Federal Police who had informed their Indonesian counterparts in the hope that it would lead to the identification of the drug syndicate distribution network and other players higher up in the chain. It didn’t. 1884 - far off the coast of the Cape of Good Hope discussion began between a group of men as to which one of them should be sacrificed so that the other three may have a chance of survival. They had already spent over two weeks out at sea on a deteriorating lifeboat; their paltry rations long gone and they were drifting out in the ocean half way between Africa and South America.
