<p><span>De Daphne Caruana Galizia-prijs voor journalistiek 2025 werd uitgereikt aan het onderzoek naar de Russische schaduwvloot van het Nederlandse platform voor onderzoeksjournalistiek Follow the Money. De Nederlandse onderzoeksjournalisten werkten samen met 13 nieuwsredacties uit België, Denemarken, Duitsland, Griekenland, Italië, Noorwegen en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Uit hun onderzoek is gebleken dat westerse scheepseigenaren meer dan zes miljard dollar hebben verdiend door 230 oude tankers te verkopen aan de Russische schaduwvloot.</span></p><p><span>Het Parlement wil met deze prijs de beginselen en waarden van de EU helpen bevorderen, die verankerd zijn in het Handvest van de grondrechten van de Europese Unie. De prijs is een eerbetoon aan Daphne Caruana Galizia, de Maltese journaliste, blogster en anticorruptieactiviste die in 2017 werd vermoord.</span></p>
