   Ep 24: Should Christian single men give a Dowry?

   In this episode, we explore the biblical concept of dowry and bride price in the King James Bible, uncovering its deeper meaning beyond ancient custom. In Scripture, dowry was not symbolic—it represented commitment, responsibility, and the value of the bride. From Jacob’s years of labor for Rachel to David’s acts of courage for Michal, we see that covenant love required sacrifice and action. We then trace how this pattern develops throughout the Bible, revealing God as a husband to His people and ultimately pointing to Jesus Christ as the Bridegroom. The key connection is this: just as a groom paid a price to enter covenant, Christ paid the ultimate price—His own life—to redeem the Church. While the Bible doesn’t explicitly call Christ’s sacrifice a “dowry,” it clearly fulfills the pattern. What was once a cultural practice becomes a theological reality: covenant love costs something, and Christ demonstrates this fully at the cross. The episode concludes by applying this truth to our lives, challenging Christian men to love sacrificially like Christ, and reminding all believers of their immense value as the bride of Christ.
