Why Samantha Brown Actually Loves Airports (And You Should Too)
There's something almost magical about watching someone fall in love with travel—not just the destinations, but the entire ritual of airports, connections, and chance encounters with strangers who become stories you'll tell for years.
In this episode, we sit down with Samantha Brown, the travel host who's been our guide to the world for decades. She shares her most practical airport hacks, weighs in on the great hotels versus Airbnbs debate, and explains why she believes the most transformative travel happens when you least expect it.

The Man Who Wrote the Cookie Bible
You’ve probably waited in line for a great cookie. Maybe even paid way too much. But when did a simple treat turn into a full-blown cultural obsession? And what does that say about us?
In this episode, we meet Ben Mims—LA Times columnist, cookbook author, and cookie whisperer—to find out how cookies went from comfort food to social media phenomenon. From ancient Persia to bakery drops that sell out in minutes, Ben walks us through the history, nostalgia, and science behind the world’s most beloved baked good.
We’ll taste what he calls the best cookie in Los Angeles (maybe even the country?), reflect on the ones our grandmothers made, and ask the deeper question: can a cookie still have soul?

The Tea Master Preserving an 800-Year-Old Secret
For this episode, we traveled to Kyoto chasing a ritual that’s been quietly shaping Japanese life for over 800 years. At the center of it all is Randy Channell Soei, a Canadian-born tea master who has devoted his life to chado: the ancient Way of Tea.
In a world obsessed with speed, distraction, and TikTok trends, this episode slows things down. We sit with Randy in his tea room, listen to the rhythm of bamboo against ceramic, and learn how a single bowl of matcha can shift your perception of time, presence, and reality itself.
Whether you’re a matcha fanatic or have never touched the stuff, this journey might just change the way you see your daily rituals.
