About Noir Frequency

Noir Frequency is a late-night transmission about fear, folklore, and the stories we tell ourselves when the lights go out. Each episode follows the places where myth, history, science, and paranoia overlap. We open case files and campfire tales side by side, tracing how belief moves through culture: playground dares, classified memos, urban legends, declassified experiments, and the strange things our minds do in the dark. Tune in, follow the signal, and stay long enough to let the questions sink in. Support the signal: https://patreon.com/noirfrequency https://noirfrequency.com

Pocket Monsters - When Pokémon Became Demonic

Support Noir Frequency: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NoirFrequency Website and store: https://www.noirfrequency.com A child opened a pack of cards. Bright colours. Strange creatures. A little yellow mascot with red cheeks. A world of types, attacks, evolutions, trades, rare cards, rumours, and playground status. To children, Pokémon was a game. To some adults, it looked like something else. In the late 1990s, Pokémon became more than a global craze. It became a moral panic. Schools banned the cards. Parents worried about obsession, greed, theft, and unfair trades. Conservative Christian critics warned that the game might lead children toward the occult. Some heard “pocket monsters” and thought of demons. Others saw evolution, psychic powers, ghost types, strange symbols, and children learning a private language adults did not understand. In this episode of Noir Frequency, we open the file on the forgotten satanism scandal of Pokémon. This is not an episode about proving Pokémon was secretly evil. It is a story about adult fear, children’s culture, religious anxiety, imported symbols, schoolyard economies, moral panic, and the strange moment when a children’s game was accused of opening the door to darker forces. We follow the rise of Pokémania, the trading-card bans, the Christian backlash, the claims about demons and occult influence, the Saudi fatwa against Pokémon cards, the Porygon seizure incident, the return of old fears during Pokémon Go, and the fake Satoshi Tajiri interview that falsely claimed the franchise had been created for Satanists. A child saw a game. An adult saw a ritual. And somewhere in the static between them, the pocket monsters became demons. The story is the evidence. The conclusion is yours. #Pokemon #PocketMonsters #PokemonPanic #MoralPanic #SatanicPanic #NoirFrequency #DarkHistory #StrangeHistory #OccultPanic #PokemonHistory #PokemonCards #PokemonGo #PorygonIncident #ReligiousPanic #ChristianPanic #UrbanLegend #ConspiracyCulture #PopCultureHistory #DarkFolklore #90sNostalgia #TrueStrangeHistory

Waco: Cult, Fire & the FBI

Support Noir Frequency: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NoirFrequency Website and store: https://www.noirfrequency.com On April 19, 1993, America watched Mount Carmel burn. Inside were members of the Branch Davidians, an apocalyptic religious community led by David Koresh. Outside were federal agents, armoured vehicles, negotiators, commanders, cameras, and a public that had already been given a word for the people inside: Cult. But Waco was never simple. David Koresh was not a harmless prophet. He was accused of abusing children, claimed religious authority over women and girls, and led an armed community that expected conflict with the outside world. The government was not approaching a peaceful monastery. But the darkest question remains: How did a warrant become a war? In this episode of Noir Frequency, we open the file on the Waco siege: the Branch Davidians, David Koresh, the ATF raid of February 28, the deaths of federal agents and Davidians, the 51-day standoff, the FBI negotiations, the Seven Seals, the media framing, the final tear gas assault, the disputed fire, and the deaths of 76 people, including many children. Was Waco a cult tragedy? A failure of law enforcement? A religious crisis misunderstood by the state? A warning about media labels and federal force? Or something darker: a moment where belief and power made each other more dangerous? This is not a story with clean hands. Koresh abused power. The government abused force. The media flattened people. The siege hardened belief. The fire made every explanation feel too small. The story is the evidence. The conclusion is yours. #Waco #WacoSiege #MountCarmel #BranchDavidians #DavidKoresh #NoirFrequency #DarkHistory #StrangeHistory #TrueCrimeHistory #ReligiousMovements #CultHistory #ATF #FBI #AmericanHistory #ConspiracyCulture #MediaPanic #RubyRidge #MOVEBombing #UnsolvedQuestions #HistoryPodcast #DarkDocumentary

The Dark Folklore of Baby Teeth

Support Noir Frequency: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NoirFrequency Website and store: https://www.noirfrequency.com A child loses a tooth. In the modern story, it is harmless. Sweet. Domestic. A tiny milestone placed beneath a pillow and exchanged in the night for a coin. But beneath the glitter, wings, and nursery softness, the ritual is far older and far stranger. Across the world, children’s lost teeth have been burned, buried, hidden, thrown onto roofs, sent toward the sun, placed in walls, fed to animals, guarded from witches, offered to mice, and exchanged for protection. What looks like a cute childhood custom may be the softened remains of something much older: a ritual transaction involving bone, vulnerability, growth, and fear. In this episode of Noir Frequency, we open the file on the global tooth trade. From medieval European tooth-burning rituals and fears of witchcraft, to Ratoncito Pérez and La Petite Souris, to roof-throwing customs in Asia and Africa, sunward tooth rituals in the Middle East and North Africa, animal exchanges in Mongolia, protective traditions in Jamaica, and darker customs involving teeth, kinship, ancestors, and the dead, this episode follows the strange afterlife of the baby tooth. Why do so many cultures treat a child’s lost tooth as more than waste? Why does something have to take it? And what does the Tooth Fairy do with all those teeth? This is a story about body fragments, childhood vulnerability, sympathetic magic, apotropaic ritual, folklore, protection, and the old fear that anything separated from the body may still carry power. The story is the evidence. The conclusion is yours. #ToothFairy #ToothFairyFolklore #DarkFolklore #Folklore #BabyTeeth #NoirFrequency #RatoncitoPerez #LaPetiteSouris #ChildhoodFolklore #OccultHistory #FolkMagic #SympatheticMagic #WitchcraftFolklore #ApotropaicMagic #Mythology #StrangeHistory #DarkHistory #ParanormalHistory #CulturalFolklore #GlobalFolklore #FolklorePodcast
