Northshore Healthbeat is the heart and soul for wellness in St Tammany. A place for healthy conversations with many trusted experts from throughout St Tammany Health System on the topics that matter most to you, your family and our community.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, so we figured it was time to have a conversation about something a lot of men would rather not talk about: their prostates. Urologist Dr. Sunhil Purohit joins us to separate prostate fact from fiction, talk about warning signs and screening, and explain how today's advances are changing the way we diagnose and treat prostate conditions. From prostate cancer to enlarged prostates – and even a leading-edge treatment called Aquablation – Dr. Purohit offers plenty of reasons for men (and the people who care about them) to listen. Give it a listen. Your prostate will thank you.

A Baby Story
For first-time mom Kati LeBreton, welcoming her baby at St. Tammany Health System was only the beginning of her birth story. In this episode, Kati shares her experience giving birth at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, why listening to her body led her to seek care again after returning home, and the support she received throughout her experience. STHS Bereavement Nurse Navigator Kristi Lamarque-Bordelon also joins the conversation to discuss the health system's approach to maternal care and the standards in place to help ensure mothers feel heard, supported and cared for throughout their birthing experience and beyond.
