The King of Comedy (1982): GTA Pricing, Steam Machines, and Expensive Pipe Dreams

This week on NAFC, it’s mostly just Mox and Izzy catching up and complaining about the economy like two old men who still buy video games. GTA 6 pricing, Steam Machine pricing, and the general feeling that everything costs way more now all get tossed into the grinder.

There’s a little anime talk, because of course there is, before Gibbs jumps on late with some thoughts on Maria Bamford specials and immediately changes the energy.

Finally, the crew dives into The King of Comedy (1982) to close out the Pipe Dreams theme—a painfully awkward, darkly funny look at fame, delusion, and what happens when your dreams are bigger than your self-awareness.

Support us on Patreon!

The Fool (2014): World Cup Fever, Evangelion Lines, and Russian Despair

This week on NAFC, Izzy and Gibbs are fully infected with World Cup fever, spending way too much time talking football, tournament storylines, and why every fan suddenly becomes an expert every four years.

Meanwhile, Mox visits The Lines of Evangelion exhibit and shares his experience wandering through a shrine dedicated to everyone's favorite emotionally damaged teenagers and giant robots.

Then the crew shifts gears and dives into The Fool (2014)—the acclaimed Russian drama about one man trying to do the right thing in a system determined to crush him. It's a tense, frustrating, and surprisingly relevant film that sparks one of the deeper discussions the gang has had in a while.

Support us on Patreon!

The Disaster Artist (2017): Coffee Shop Mysteries, Lemon Tea Nostalgia, and Absolute Tangents

What was supposed to be a review of The Disaster Artist (2017) somehow turned into an entire episode of the boys just shooting the shit—and honestly, it may have been for the best.

The crew helps Gibbs investigate a coffee shop anomaly that has been haunting him, reminisces about nostalgic lemon tea brands and flavors from their childhood, and discusses the surprisingly uncomfortable world of grocery store aisle signage. Gibbs also shares his thoughts on Backrooms, because apparently reality wasn't unsettling enough already.

Anime Corner returns with discussions on Liar Game and Rooster Fighter, proving once again that Japan continues to make things nobody would dare greenlight anywhere else.

Meanwhile, Mox breaks down the latest State of Play announcements, including thoughts on Control: Resonance, God of War: Laufey, Wolverine, and a handful of other trailers that have gamers cautiously optimistic for once.

Somewhere in there, The Disaster Artist gets mentioned. Probably.

Support us on Patreon!
