In Nederland zijn ongeveer 360 soorten solitaire bijen. Hiervan nestelt een groot deel in de grond, de rest in bestaande holtes. Om deze bijen te helpen bouwde Jon Silber op het volkstuinenpark Amstelglorie 4 grote bijenhotels.
