#207 Stop Trying to Change People’s Minds Online
<p>Online, everybody thinks they’re the smartest person in the room. Comment sections aren’t built for connection or persuasion — they’re built for performance. People aren’t listening to understand, they’re waiting to respond, prove they’re informed, and win points in front of an audience. And the result is predictable: more heat, less truth, and relationships getting damaged over opinions that would sound a lot different face-to-face.</p><p>In this episode, Travis breaks down why trying to change someone’s mind online is usually a losing game, the psychology that makes threads toxic (identity defense, confirmation bias, negativity, and public “gotcha” culture), and why avoiding real conversation breeds resentment and escalation.
