As fathers, we tend to have so much on our plates! From providing for our families, to making sure our kids are taken care of…we can sometimes lose ourselves and our identities. To the world, we may seem to be able to handle anything that comes our way, like Superman. I wanted to give us fathers a safe place that can be our community! Passing the Torch: Fatherhood, Service & Basketball
In this episode of the Not Superheroes, Just Dads podcast, I sit down with Pablo who is a father of five who is now experiencing fatherhood from a different perspective as a grandfather. We talk about the adjustment that comes with becoming a grandparent, how your relationship with your children evolves as they become adults, and what it means to continue being a father while watching your own kids raise families.
We also talk about legacy as Pablo’s son follows in his footsteps and chooses to serve in the military, just as Pablo did for 23 years. What does it feel like to see your child choose a path that was once your own?
And we take a turn into basketball, as Pablo shares his experience returning to the scouting side of the game. We discuss some of the pitfalls young players and parents need to be aware of when navigating basketball, scouting, exposure, and the pursuit of opportunities.
