Podcast Overview

Nothing is Typical in your twenties, but nothing is ever typical when you are Atypical. Hi, I’m Kylie Grace and welcome to Nothing Typical. In this podcast, I dive into my experience of being autistic and navigating my twenties. I explore topics such as my current time in University, my current favourite things, my autistic journey, and anything and everything in between. I started this podcast because, though there are numerous sources on the internet about being young and unsure about life, I’ve often felt like there was an extra piece of the equation for me that others don’t often mention. I’m hoping if you feel similarly that I can be a source of relatiably or comfort for you. New episodes every month (I’m working on starting a new hobby without doing too much at the start - a very foreign concept for me). If you are new to this cozy corner of the internet, I am happy you’re here and invite you to stay a while. With Love, Kylie Grace.

The Problem with Saying It's not *That* Bad

CW: Emotional Abuse, Emotional Manipulation, Mention of Panic Attacks

If you find yourself saying “at least it isn’t that bad,” there’s a pretty good chance that means it’s not good. Today’s episode is about something I wasn’t sure I would ever talk about. This episode feels like my most vulnerable to date in some ways, and is honestly scary to post. I have struggled a lot with figuring out how I want to discuss this, but I've realized don’t think there can ever be the exact perfect words for it. Love shouldn’t make you feel hopeless or helpless, and it shouldn’t consume every part of your life. I am only 22, so I by no means claim to know everything, and I'm sure I still have so much to learn, but these are my reflections thus far on love, and things that run adjacent to it in extremely harmful ways. In this episode of Nothing Typical, I discuss lessons learned from a past relationship, advice I wish I could give to my past self, and the importance of self-trust both in and outside of relationships. I also know that healing is a process, so I am fully open to some of these perspectives changing and/or growing, but this is where I'm at with everything for now.

Disclaimer: I am not a mental health professional, a life coach or anything of that matter; I am just a girl sharing her thoughts. All thoughts are of my own experiences and feelings, and in no way, shape or form are meant to defame any individual or to cause any harm.

If you are experiencing any form of abuse, here are some resources. Setting Goals Through Feeling

The easiest goals to keep are the ones that feel most aligned with the person you believe yourself to be, and what you think that person deserves. There is so much to unpack in this episode; reflecting on my 2024 (and 2023 - you will hear why), how to break down goals to feel smaller and attainable, and how, and why, to make rest just as much a part of your goals.

Thank you so much for listening!

*Note this episode is not at all sponsored by Whoop or any other brand*
________________________________________________

If you or someone you know is effected by what is going on here are a few resources I collected. Diary of an aspiring minimal*ish* with maximalist tendencies

I by no means ever see myself becoming a minimalist, however, as I go on to discuss in this new episode, there was a time when this idea was the only concept that helped me to get past my fear of letting stuff go. However, regarding my most recent decluttering session, I discuss a new method I found far more helpful. In this 5th episode of Nothing Typical, I discuss my advice for how to declutter when stuff is more than just "stuff" to you, and when overthinking makes you constantly worry if you're making the right call by placing something in the "to-go" box. My personal experience with change and uncertainty is also discussed, as well as alternative methods for where to actually give the items you wish to get rid of and, how this too can help ease anxiety surrouding the overall process.

Thank you so much for listening!

Have any questions or topics you would like me to discuss?
