Kathy Dalzot (My Mom)

Today you are in for a treat because I am talking to my mom, Kathy Dalzot. My mom had some resistance when I first asked her to speak to me because she didn’t think she had anything interesting to say, but I beg to differ. My brother, sister and I did not grow up around the perils of diet culture. We were raised to love food and were encouraged to eat as much as possible without rules or consequences. Talking about weight just wasn’t a thing. I wanted to talk to my mom to find out why. How was her life growing up and how did it help shape how she raised her family.

As you can probably hear, the sound quality isn’t up to the usual standard. I recorded this interview and am speaking to you now at my parents’ home without any headphones or microphones. I hope you can forgive any distracting background noise or less than stellar sound quality.

I hope you’ll find this narrative nourishing.

If you enjoyed this podcast, please consider giving it a 5-star review, or better yet, tell one person you know about it. Word of mouth is the best way to reach people. I greatly appreciate it.

Hosted on Acast. Kai-leé

Today I am talking to Kai-leé. Kai-leé has been a client of mine for over two years now. From a young age, Kai-leé learned to disconnect from her body to feel safe. She saw her body as separate from herself and something she needed to control. As an adult, this manifested as chronic dieting, forgoing her own needs and always putting others before herself. While this served her well in a professional capacity and she was very successful, it stunted her ability to realize her true self. During our conversation, you will hear how Kai-leé has evolved into an embodied being, complete with feelings and needs and the capacity to set boundaries and show herself compassion.

A content warning – we don’t go into details, but there is a brief mention of rape.

This was a really special conversation. I hope you’ll find this narrative nourishing.

If you enjoyed this podcast, please consider giving it a 5-star review, or better yet, tell one person you know about it. Pam Smith

Today I am talking to Pam Smith. As a follow-up to my episode with Ellie Greenwood, Pam comes on the podcast today to tell her wild Western States 100 story. It is a tale of defeat, triumph, acceptance, lessons learned, and wisdom gained. Admittedly, there were some things that Pam talks about that were hard for me not be able to ask more curiosity questions, dive deeper into and explore in more depth within the confines of this one-hour show. While I try to keep content as safe as possible, there may be some language and concepts brought up that may be activating for people who have disordered eating behaviors or sensitivities around weight.

I hope you’ll find this narrative nourishing.

If you enjoyed this podcast, please consider giving it a 5-star review, or better yet, tell one person you know about it.
