Guardrails of Grace: Choosing Joy Over Chaos

In this heartfelt episode, Katie Mares shares her journey of self-discovery and the importance of walking in purpose. She reflects on her past struggles with chaos and survival, emphasizing the need to redefine success through joy and alignment with personal principles. Katie discusses the significance of having guardrails in life to guide decision-making and the transformative power of aligning mindset, values, and identity for meaningful change. *note: I was traveling and apologize for the audio with love and gratitude Katie Key Takeaways from This Episode Letting go of “shoulds”: Just because it looks good, doesn’t mean it feels right. Real alignment starts with honesty. Rewriting the blueprint: I had to unlearn what I thought love, success, and strength were supposed to look like. From survival to thriving: I mastered chaos—but joy? That took surrender, intention, and faith. Principles as guardrails: It wasn’t until I gave my life to Christ that I understood what it meant to live by true, unshakable values. Joy is my new metric: Success isn’t hustle anymore—it’s peace, presence, and purpose. Talk is negotiable. Action isn’t. Alignment shows up in what you do, not just what you say. Familiar feelings are signals: That tug, that discomfort? It’s not random—it’s your spirit trying to tell you something. Decisions deserve discipline: Guardrails aren’t limits—they’re the way back to yourself. Alignment = transformation: When mindset, values, and identity align, change stops being hard—it becomes unavoidable. Pray differently: Don’t just ask God for strength—ask Him for the wisdom to know when to pause, pivot, or let go.
