Rick IY6C | Authenticity in Competition NRLH Podcast Season 6 | Ep. 3
On today’s episode, Rick IY6C joins Travis Ishida for a wide-ranging conversation covering competition shooting, hunting, van life, and the authentic community behind the precision rifle world.
From retiring after 31 years in the fire service to traveling the country competing in matches, Rick shares how he got into precision rifle sports later in life and why “the next match is my practice.” The conversation dives into gear that works, lessons learned from mistakes on the clock, setting goals for upcoming events, and the value of showing the screw-ups—not just the highlight reels—on his YouTube channel.
Rick and Travis also discuss hunting backgrounds, seeing different parts of the world through competition, and why the people in this community keep them coming back.
NRL HUNTER is a series of competitions for hunters by hunters. It brings ethical hunters together in an innovative, competitive format for new and seasoned hunters to learn about their gear, overall capabilities & limits, and about local hunting terrains.
