Date: 9/13/2025
Venue: All City Homes, 3401 2nd Ave., Sacramento, CA
Series: Mahogany Urban Poetry Series
Host: J. Rowe
Project: Poetry On Blast
Feature: Shawn William
Poem: Splitting Image - My Son
Notes: I found his poetry delivery style interesting. He melted each poem into his talk, and you didn’t quite know when the poem started. It became this holistic presentation of unconditional love, forgiveness, and forbearance. “Spitting Image - My Son” is a great poem about a father finding himself through loving his son.

Walk Walk, Poem by Cynthia Linville
Series: Third Tuesday Poetry
Host: Ann Michaels
Poet: Cynthia Linville
Poem: Walk Walk
Venue: Twin Lotus Thai Restaurant (8345 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento)
Project: Poetry On Blast
Note: This poem is a fun one. During her set, which was full of serious subject matter, this one stood out to me because of the rhythm, tone, and images. I hope this brings a smile to your face, as it did for me when she delivered it.
Bio from the flyer: Cynthia Linville's two books of collected poems, The Lost Thing and Out of Reach, are available from Cold River Press. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize as well as for a Best of the Net. A music aficionado with a theater background, Cynthia has received three mini-grants from Poets & Writers to perform her work in collaboration with musicians. She has taught in the English Department at Sacramento State University since 2000, and she served as Managing Editor of Convergence: an online journal of poetry and art from 2008 to 2018.

Note: I found Diamond very talented and surprisingly spiritual for her age. This song, although not a poem, fits this project because of the venue she performed at and her use of verse.
