Millionen von Menschen sind auf der Flucht. <br/>Auf der Flucht sind Menschen in dieser Region aber auch, weil Länder wie Mali, Niger und Burkina Faso die Beziehungen zur ehemaligen Kolonialmacht Frankreich und anderen westlichen Partnern abgebrochen und sich Russland zugewandt haben. (Maria Harmer)++Den Karfreitag als Feiertag für alle fordert ein Volksbegehren, das noch bis Montag unterschrieben werden kann. Hintergrund ist die Abschaffung des Karfreitags als gesetzlicher Feiertag für evangelische, altkatholische und methodistische Christinnen und Christen durch die damalige ÖVP-FPÖ Regierung. Auffällig ist, dass man von Seiten der altkatholischen und evangelischen Kirche zwar Verständnis für das Volksbegehren zeigt, dieses aber nicht offiziell unterstützt (Mittendorfer)</p>

Papst und Piusbrüder++Notstand in Gaza
<p>Moderation Martin Gross / Gesendet in Ö1 am 17.6.2026++Papst Leo XIV. will die traditionalistische Piusbruderschaft vor deren möglicher Abspaltung von der römisch katholischen Kirche offenbar noch zum Einlenken bewegen. Die Piusbrüder haben ja wie berichtet angekündigt, am 1. Juli ohne päpstliche Erlaubnis Bischöfe zu weihen, mit der Begründung, nur so könne der Priesternachwuchs für die Bruderschaft sichergestellt werden. (Martin Gross)++Derzeit fokussiert sich die Weltöffentlichkeit auf ein mögliches Ende des Iran-Kriegs. Nur wenig Beachtung fand zuletzt die nach wie vor dramatische humanitäre Lage im Gazastreifen, auf die die österreichische Caritas aber nun in einem Online-Pressegespräch neuerlich den Blick gelenkt hat.
