Cosa non abbiamo vinto
C'è una parola che negli anni Novanta aveva ancora un'anima aperta, quasi una promessa: globalizzazione. Non significava solo merci, non significava solo mercati. Significava che quello che succedeva dall'altra parte del mondo ti riguardava – e che forse, finalmente, si poteva fare qualcosa insieme.<br /><br />Poi qualcosa si è inceppato. O meglio: qualcuno ha scelto cosa globalizzare e cosa no. Le merci sì, i diritti no. I profitti sì, i farmaci no.<br /><br />In questo episodio di Oblò parliamo con Nicoletta Dentico – che negli anni Novanta ha coordinato progetti di cooperazione internazionale con Mani Tese, e dal 1999 al 2003 è stata direttrice generale di Medici Senza Frontiere Italia. In quegli anni, mentre i movimenti sociali riempivano le piazze di Seattle e Firenze, lei era dentro una delle battaglie più concrete e decisive di quella stagione: il diritto di accesso ai farmaci essenziali contro i brevetti delle multinazionali farmaceutiche. Una battaglia che è stata vinta a metà. E quella metà che non è stata vinta pesa ancora oggi.<br />

Avere ragione non basta
«Un altro mondo è possibile» era lo slogan dei movimenti sociali a cavallo tra i due millenni – gridato nelle piazze, nei forum, nelle assemblee di mezzo mondo. In questa stagione di Oblò lo prendiamo al passato. Non per rassegnazione, non per nostalgia: per fare i conti con quello che si è mosso allora, con chi c'era, e con quello che ancora non torna.<br /><br />Il primo episodio è con Tommaso Fattori, politico e attivista, uno degli organizzatori del Forum Sociale Europeo di Firenze del 2002: il momento in cui contadini, lavoratori, ambientalisti e movimenti per i diritti si sono trovati nella stessa stanza e hanno scoperto che i loro problemi avevano la stessa radice. Un'alleanza improbabile e bellissima. E una lezione durissima su cosa significa avere ragione senza riuscire a cambiare le cose.
