Can We Edit Our Immune System? CRISPR, T Cells, and the Future of Cancer Treatment
In this episode, I break down how CRISPR gene editing is being used to engineer T cells and improve cancer immunotherapy. I explain how T cells normally recognize abnormal cells, how cancer can avoid the immune system, and how scientists are exploring CRISPR as a way to make immune cells better at recognizing and attacking cancer.
I also talk about what researchers still do not know, including potential safety risks, unintended changes to DNA, long term effects, treatment effectiveness, and the ethical questions surrounding access to these therapies.
