2% Excellence in Black Artistry with Britt Samuels and Eric Jones
2% Excellence in Black Artistry calls attention to the scarcity of Black representation in Orange County and in the art world more broadly. While acknowledging this structural absence, the exhibition honors artists whose work asserts presence, depth, and influence beyond their numbers. The title marks both a reality and an invitation—to look more closely, to recognize what is too often overlooked, and to expand the space in which these voices can be seen. This episode is a conversation with two of the artists featured in 2%: photographer and founder of OC Arts Guild, Britt Samuels, and Eric Jones, artist and art instructor at Irvine Valley College and Saddleback College.

Morse explains the parameters for the oversight commission and how similar commissions have worked in other SoCal law enforcement agencies.
