Ocean Notes is a completed season. For new conversations and audio reflections, follow my current show, The Honest Place.
Ocean Notes is a minimalist micro-podcast by Svetlana Kaz. Each 1–3 minute episode is a raw voice note recorded during ocean walks, nature moments, or quiet pauses in daily life. No music, no scripting, no production – just intimate reflections on emotional regulation, identity, healing, relationships, and the messy middle of personal transformation. Perfect for the quiet moments when you want grounding, truth, and calm.
Ocean Notes was a very real season for me.
It captured a time of transition — and it helped me understand more clearly what I care about most: creating space for honest reflection on self-worth, identity, leadership, parenting, and the inner questions so many of us carry.
In this short note, I share what Ocean Notes became, why this season is complete, and where the deeper conversation is continuing.
If this work has resonated with you, I’d love to invite you into the next chapter:
The Honest Place — a new show with longer, more conversational reflections on the same themes, now unfolding in a different format.
You can find it by searching for “The Honest Place” wherever you listen to podcasts or join the conversation live every other Wednesday on Instagram @svetlanakazco.
Thank you for being here and for walking this season with me.

Pushing Away From the Shore
Recorded at the cliffside where Ocean Notes was born, this final episode reflects on the experience of pushing away from the familiar shore — and discovering that the journey itself is the point.
I share a story of four women who rowed across the Pacific Ocean, and how their journey mirrors the quiet inner crossings so many of us make: the uncertainty, the strength we didn’t know we had, and the moment we finally feel the shoreline inside ourselves.
If you’re in a season of transition or stepping into something unknown, I hope this episode meets you right where you are.

The Gift Inside the Rejection
Some rejections feel like they shake our entire foundation. This one did.
What I couldn’t see in that moment was that the "no" that broke me open was also redirecting me toward my own path, my own work, and the spaces I was meant to create.
If you’re holding a painful "no" right now, this episode might help you see the hidden yes beneath it.

Choosing the Self I Carry Forward
There comes a moment in life when your adult self finally arrives — steady, clear, awake — and begins to sort through the layers you’ve built to survive.
In this episode, I share the experience that shook me awake and the quiet realization that followed: we’re not locked into the versions of ourselves shaped by necessity.
We can keep the parts that serve us,and gently let go of the rest.
A reflection on identity, survival strategies, and choosing who you are becoming.

The Strong One Who Also Needs to Be Held
I’ve been the "strong one" for as long as I can remember — the one who holds everything together, takes care of everyone, and stays steady so others can lean on me.
For a long time I didn’t realize that being the strong one wasn’t a choice, it was a survival strategy. And I also didn’t see how much it was quietly draining me.
This Ocean Note is about the moment my nervous system finally said “enough,” and what changed when I allowed myself to be held too.

When I Stopped Shrinking Myself
I recorded this looking at huge Pacific waves picking up their power and breaking, while thinking about how much of my own power I’ve spent shrinking myself to fit into the wrong rooms.
This Ocean Note is about what happened when I stopped pouring my energy into fitting in, and started bringing my full self to the right people and places instead.

No Longer Outsourcing My Worth
As the year ends, I realized how often I’ve outsourced my worth to investors, programs, mentors and external praise — and how much of myself I’ve lost in that chase. This note is about what I’m leaving behind, what I’m carrying forward, and entering the new year as a more grounded version of myself.

Slowing Down Is Not Optional
This Ocean Note is about the kind of calm that only arrives when we pause long enough to feel our feet on the ground — and how slowing down isn’t a luxury, but essential if we want our choices to line up with our values and inner voice.

Emotional Weightlifting
When I started working out regularly, I thought I was just building physical strength.
What I didn’t expect was how lacing up my running shoes and lifting heavy things would teach me to stay with uncomfortable emotions instead of running away from them.
This note is about “emotional weightlifting” — the tiny, consistent practices that build inner muscles the same way workouts shape the body.

Learning to Quiet My Inner Critic
In this note, I talk about how my inner critic used to be the loudest voice whenever something went wrong – and what shifts when I slow down, ground myself, and start answering from my wiser, regulated self instead of from blame.

When I Think I’ve Ruined a Connection
A note for the part of me that panics after a vulnerable moment and thinks, “I’ve ruined everything”. I talk about how my inner critic reacts when I feel I’ve hurt someone I deeply care about, and the shift that happens when I remember how much love, trust, and time went into building this connection – and that repair can become another beautiful facet of it.

Being a Cycle Breaker In My Family
A note for anyone breaking family patterns. I share the grief of seeing what my parents never had, and the moment I realized my work isn’t to create perfect new patterns for future generations — it’s simply to live as honestly and lovingly as I can.

Learning to Self-Validate
A voice note recorded while walking by the Pacific Ocean about what happens when external validation disappears – and the moment I realized I could give that validation to myself.
