Hustle Culture: Soft Generation or Harder Times? | Off The Mic - Season 1 Episode 6

Every generation has had to hustle, but not every generation has had to hustle like this.

The economy is broken, the system was never really built for us, and the basic things our parents took for granted have become things we have to fight for daily. Yet somehow, we're still the generation being called soft, still the ones being told to work harder, complain less and figure it out, as if figuring it out doesn't cost three times more than it did twenty years ago.

In this episode we got into all of it. The reality of what it means to hustle in Nigeria right now, why the gap between our generation and the one before us is wider than people want to admit, and whether the system is actually failing us or whether the problem runs deeper than that.

We also talked about burnout, because when you are grinding this hard just to meet basic needs, there is only so long before something breaks.

And then there is the other side of the conversation, the growing obsession with aesthetically pleasing careers, why everyone wants to be in the media space, and whether our generation is doing enough with the opportunities that actually exist.

This episode is honest, it is uncomfortable in places, and it will make you think about the hustle differently.

listen and tell us where you stand in the comments.

Relationships vs Situationships: Dating in Our Generation | Off The Mic - Season 1 Episode 5

Love has always been complex, and every generation has had to figure out their own version of it. Gen Z is no different, we're just defining ours on our own terms. Somewhere between the talking stage, the almost relationships, and the quiet understanding that nobody is putting a label on anything, our generation has built an entirely new language around love, and this episode is us breaking it down.We got into what dating actually looks like for our generation, who is expected to provide and why, whether relationships even come with real security anymore, and why situationships have become more common than actual commitment. So where do you stand? Are you team relationship or team situationship, and does it even matter anymore?

Lapo vs Nepo: Classism in our Generation | Off The Mic - Season 1 Episode 4

Nigeria is in the middle of an economic crisis, and somehow, classism is louder than ever. Not the quiet, subtle kind. The kind that gets packaged, marketed, and sold back to us with a price tag attached. This episode we're getting into celebrity pricing on basic necessities, why wealth has been reduced to the phone in your hand and the brand on your back, and how using people's financial reality as entertainment has become completely normalized. In a country where the average person is fighting just to stay afloat, the conversation around class has never been more performative and more dangerous. At what point does class become a costume? And who exactly is the joke on?This one is not comfortable, but it's necessary. We have said it, and we would say more!
