[…] So for the economy as a whole, if you think about immigration, the main gains are the fact that immigration helps labour shortages. The fact that immigration obsets population aging, which has become a huge problem, huge problem for European countries, for the U .S., for Japan, for Korea, immigration decreases prices, scale migration brings in a lot of entrepreneurial and innovation capital, but also so there are gains from both low -skilled and high -scale migration, different types of gains. Trade up has similar gains, lowering prices, some more product variety, more innovation, pro -competitive effects, but the issues that these gains are very uneven. […]
