This is the teaching podcast for Oikos Church in Memphis, TN. Oikos desires to see people deeply transformed by God’s grace through the gospel of King Jesus.
Revelation 7:9-12.
God's mission is moving toward a day when a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language will stand before the throne and worship Jesus. As John Piper famously puts it, mission exists because worship doesn't. The church therefore gives not merely to meet needs or fund programs, but because Jesus is worthy of the worship of every people on earth. Our generosity is itself an act of worship that participates in the multiplication of worship—turning earthly treasure toward God's kingdom so that others might know and treasure Jesus. Through the Oikos Go Offering, we have an opportunity to invest together in that future: supporting God's mission here, preparing to send people there, and longing for the day when Jesus is worshiped everywhere.

To the Ends of the Earth Part 2: There
Acts 11:19-30; 13:1-4.
The mission of Jesus inevitably carries His church beyond itself. At Antioch, a local church listened to the Spirit, released some of its leaders, and sent them out to proclaim the gospel. Paul eventually developed an ambition to preach Christ where he was not known, depending upon churches not only to go with him in prayer but also to help him on his journey. Churches participate in God's mission by raising up, sending, and supporting people who carry the gospel beyond them. Oikos wants to become that kind of church: deeply rooted in Memphis while raising up disciples and missionaries who can be sent wherever Jesus leads Our generosity helps turn that desire into action.

To the Ends of the Earth Part 1: Here
Acts 1:1-8. Jesus sends His people to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth, but that mission begins right where He has placed them. Empowered u the Holy Spirit, the first disciples bore witness to Jesus in Jerusalem before the gospel moved outward into Judea, Samaria, and beyond. In the same way, Oikos has been sent to follow Jesus together in Memphis—to our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and campuses. The Table embodies this calling as a mission outpost of Oikos Church at the University of Memphis, intentionally moving towards students with the good news of Jesus and inviting them into His family. From the beginning, the church also shared its resources so that its common its common life could serve its common mission (Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-35). As we prepare for the Oikos Go Offering, we begin by asking how everything God has entrusted to us can participate in His mission right here.
