Deac Diaries: Entry 2

Dear Deac Diaries,

It's Roksanna and Prarthna again. Today we spoke with Alex Wood ('26) and Carly Wilson ('26) of the women's soccer team. On Sat. Nov. 12, they will be playing the University of South Carolina in the first round of the NCAA tournament, so before they left we decided to chat. We talked about how they ended up in Winston-Salem, how they balance being a college freshman and a collegiate athlete, and what it's like to live on the same hall as a super cool podcast host. They wouldn't let us ride their scooters, but other than that we had a great time talking to them. We hope you enjoy it as much as us.

If you have a story you want to tell or one you want to hear, let us know at batrp22@wfu.edu or keyvr22@wfu.edu — we want to put your entry into the Deac Diary.

xoxo

This podcast is a product of the Old Gold & Black, Wake Forest University's student newspaper. It is hosted by Prarthna Batra and Roksanna Keyvan; produced by Sara Hagiwara; and managed by Cooper Sullivan.

Deac Diaries: Entry 1

Dear Deac Diaries,

This is Roksanna Keyvan and Prarthna Batra, a pair of freshmen here at Wake Forest. We don't know every person here, we don't know every nook and cranny, and we don't know everything to do or everything there is to know about college at Wake Forest. But we do know that neither does everyone else.

We want this to be the place for all Deacs to come together, hear someone's story, and get to know someone a bit more personally. For our first entry, we spoke to Joe Devoy ('26) and Landon Ellis ('26), who are both spontaneous musicians. You have probably heard them play around campus, but have you heard their real song? Listen to our conversation with them and learn a note or two.

If you have a story you want to tell or one you want to hear, let us know at batrp22@wfu.edu or keyvr22@wfu.edu — we want to put your entry into the Deac Diary.

xoxo

Roksanna & Prarthna

This podcast is a product of the Old Gold & Black, Wake Forest University's student newspaper. 2022 Freshman Tabloid: Cultural Affinity Group Roundtable

For this year’s Freshman Tabloid, we hosted a discussion that featured the student leaders of various affinity groups in which they shared stories, spoke about the benefits their respective organizations provided and offered advice for the Class of 2026. In our print edition, we were only able to include excerpts from our discussion, but there any many more gems of advice that you can find out here. And by no means are these the only student-run affinity groups on campus, these are just the ones that were free for a Monday evening zoom. To get in contact with and learn more about the organizations below and the ones not included, visit The Link or visit the Intercultural Center in Benson Room 347.
