Episode 7 - Get Your Larp On

Old Man Folders & the Mall Ninja Kid | Episode 7 - Get Your Larp OnThree guys walk into a knife shop, a cigar lounge, and an FFL — because they're all in the same building in Alaska. This week, Old Man Folders, Mall Ninja Kid, and producer TBD cover everything from suppressor drama and HK obsessions to $1,200 spinning tops, zombie Cerakote jobs, and why you absolutely cannot ship ammo to Alaska. Expect hot takes, cold steel, and at least one Aston Martin. The most chaotic intro in podcast history. "I'm Old Man Folders." "No, I'm Old Man Folders." It gets sorted out eventually.7:04 – Top Hates: EDC Fidget Toys & Overpriced CollectorsA $1,200 spinning top with a six-month waitlist. For what? Old Man Folders uses everything he owns into the dirt. Mall Ninja Kid does too — but only to open boxes of knives.10:51 – Commando Store & Eastern European GearA Ukrainian Mil-Surp store called "Get Your Larp On" sells fake Adidas tracksuits, IKEA-branded (well, "Idea"-branded) AK mag carriers, and a $30 Russian knockoff Casio. Mall Ninja Kid wants all of it.17:52 – NFA Items, Suppressors & Tax Stamp ChangesTax stamps are gone and wait times are days, not years. Mall Ninja Kid just ordered a low-backpressure 7.62 can after his brass literally exploded. Chuck from Alaska Ballistics is hoarding suppressors and paranoid about flash signatures.22:29 – HK USP & Compact Tactical HuntThe HK45 Compact Tactical: discontinued, worth $3,500+, and Mall Ninja Kid traded his away for basically nothing. The guy who took it still comments on his videos to gloat.27:00 – Griffin Suppressors & the Solid Snake BuildMall Ninja Kid's .45 suppressor is Hollywood quiet — just a puff and the action cycling. He bought it specifically to live out a Metal Gear fantasy with his HK USP.34:26 – Japanese Swords: Wakizashi & Katana AppraisalsOld Man Folders has a wakizashi that just got re-dated 100 years older than previously thought — potentially worth $15K at auction. Can a wakizashi behead someone? Technically no. A katana? Absolutely.39:29 – Knife Community Rants: Grail Knives & Strider vs. HindererStop buying knives just to photograph them. Mall Ninja Kid has the Hinderer XM-24. Old Man Folders daily-carries an SMF. ProTech's springs are so violent the Runt will spin out of your hand.50:03 – Aston Martin TangentThere's a Tiffany blue–on–Tiffany blue–on–Tiffany blue V8 Vantage Aston Martin for sale right now, cheapest in the country at $30K. Old Man Folders is working on getting producer Dakota to buy it. Dakota has a Tiffany blue ProTech knife. The signs are all there.53:02 – Jeep Mods, Car Talk & LED LightsMall Ninja Kid's turbo Wrangler is making absurd torque. Old Man Folders explains downpipes, tunes, and why Jeep is technically Italian now. Also: how to install backup lights when every other bulb is sealed.59:37 – Wild West Guns & Local GunsmithingJoe West Jr. called about Cerakote work. Wild West Guns closed their retail floor but never closed — same story as Alaska Tactical. Their Bush Gun is a takedown 45-70 that fits in a backpack and can reportedly kill a polar bear.1:04:40 – Unreasonable Warranty PoliciesAn unnamed "Right F***ing Here" American brand wants $50–$125 just to accept a warranty return — and won't take USPS. From Alaska. For normal wear and tear. Old Man Folders is not impressed.1:08:02 – Alaska Shipping Hacks & OutroNo one ships to Alaska. The hacks: eBay sellers who don't know the rules, carrying ammo in checked luggage, and palletizing cases on the barge. Old Man Folders moved up here with everything he owned in a 4×4×4 pallet.*Old Man Folders | Mall Ninja Kid | Name TBD | Cheez-It is the F**ing FuzzKnives · Guns · Gear · Alaska · Chaos

   Episode 6 - Mags, Waki's & Bear Bacon

Old Man Folders & the Mall Ninja KidEpisode 6 — Mags, Waki's & Bear BaconThe ultimate bipolar opposite of the knife universe. Blades, guns, hunting, bears, and zero filter. [0:10] IntroEpisode 5 kicks off. [0:32] ETS Group 10mm Glock Stick MagsOld Man Folders finally gets his 30-round 10mm ETS mags for the Glock 20 — $17, smoke translucent, factory butt cap compatible. Mall Ninja Kid has ETS history and confirms they're truck-tough. [14:10] Shield Arms Leak & Glock at SHOTRumor: Glock is making their own 15-round mags for the 43X/48. Plus: Glock treats small creators better than almost anyone at SHOT Show. [16:38] The Gay Intervention PrankMall Ninja Kid is staging a full gay intervention for a conservative Wyoming ex-cop at SHOT 2027 — 15 YouTubers, five Russians, a semi-circle, little papers. Chook provides the psychological cover story. [22:13] Wilson Combat & 1911 MagsThe 1911's greatest fault is its mags. Old Man Folders' SIG 1911 jammed on everything until he gave up. Rule: Wilson Combat or Kit McCormick mags only. Worst 1911 trigger still beats the best Glock trigger.[INSERT WILSON COMBAT LINK] [26:00] Glock Full-Auto Switch TangentThe little aluminum piece that makes a Glock full auto. Works on Airsoft Glocks too. $15 on Alibaba. You will get on a list. Informational purposes only. Consult your lawyer. [35:10] Favorite Knife LockupsRAM-LOK vs. compression lock vs. frame lock vs. liner lock vs. button lock — everyone ranks their favorites. Benchmade Axis Lock patent expired and Chinese brands are flooding in.[INSERT MICROTECH LINK] | [INSERT BENCHMADE LINK] | [INSERT SPYDERCO LINK] [49:30] OTF Knives & Ballistic KnivesOld Man Folders removes the stop pin from a Microtech Scarab — blade falls out six inches. Anticlimactic. Russian ballistic knife videos stick doors at 20 feet. The spring is an 870 shotgun spring. Once assembled: federal felony. [57:38] Wakizashis & Antique Japanese SwordsTwo wakizashis in the shop, both dated 1600s or earlier after a 37-month wait. One potentially worth $30K. A WWII bring-back katana that can't be sent to Japan for restoration — it'd be seized. A grandkid who did $50K damage to the most expensive blade the shop has ever seen. [1:13:08] Cold Steel, Condor & Sword FightingMall Ninja Kid wants the Cold Steel waki-size Magnum Tanto. Condor's 1095 tactical katana: bend it 45 degrees, it springs back. Japanese swords are designed to be disposable. Gas station swords: do not use for home defense. [1:23:10] Tactical TomahawksWhy soldiers chose tomahawks over swords. Winkler is impossible to find thanks to Jack Carr. RMJ Snuggles war hammer: 4.5 lbs of 80CrV2, looks like the devil's meat tenderizer. Half Face Blades & We Kill Bad Dudes. [1:30:00] SlapjacksWe Kill Bad Dudes leather slapjacks: 18 ounces of shut the fuck up. Birdshot, nylon bag, 870 door-spring. One is ostrich skin. Highly recommended for anyone who can legally own one. [1:33:00] Birdshot vs. BuckshotAt five feet, birdshot acts like a slug. Duck hunters in Alaska have killed grizzlies with birdshot — but you have to wait until your asshole is fully puckered before pulling the trigger. [1:37:00] Bear Hunting, Meat & ParasitesBear bacon is real and good. Brown bear cheeseburger with bear-grease fries: confirmed delicious if it's a berry bear. Coastal bears: do not eat. Also: trichinosis, three-foot tapeworms, seal balloon disease, and why you take ivermectin for 30 days after every bear hunt. [1:48:00] Polar BearsFully apex, zero fear response — they just walk toward whatever they smell. TBD's grandmother: North Slope game warden, polar bear licked through her car window, shot it at point blank inside the vehicle, wore hearing aids the rest of her life. [1:12:00] Outro"This has been an Old Man Folders and the Mall Ninja Kid presentation."

Episode 5 - Airboat Hunting On the North Slope

Old Man Folders & the Mall Ninja KidEpisode 5 — Airboat Hunting On the North Slope The ultimate bipolar opposite of the knife universe. Blades, guns, hunting, trucks, and zero filter. [0:05] IntroEpisode 5 kicks off. [0:19] Cigars & Davidoff Deep DiveMall Ninja Kid's cigar habit is spiraling. Freud smoked 20 a day until jaw cancer took his face. Mark Twain lived to 90 chain-smoking. Davidoff costs $83 in Alaska thanks to a 135% tobacco tax. [3:46] The UPK / Dakota Calls KnifeOld Man Folders accidentally ordered the pocket version instead of the AK bayonet. 14C28N steel, chisel grind, sliding mechanism — gimmick or legit Kubotan? Mall Ninja Kid confirms it stabbed him through his cargo pants.Up Knife OTF (https://upknife.com/collections/upk-d-series/products/upk-d4c-compact-eclipse-ring2-ss-al) | SOCP Dagger (https://www.benchmade.com/products/176bk?srsltid=AfmBOoq-5frk8KLIktop3co2v4YHz7anBbJQrTEqGSKB-yai7Z2tuD6-) [8:34] Rampage Jackson's Party & the Elbow KOSmall boxer talks trash at an MMA party — twice. Gets casually elbowed by a 280-lb ex-fighter who doesn't spill his drink.Tiki Ghosn Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yZ_Kzt450U) [11:44] Fortuna Kentucky Straight BourbonRare Characters 2022 barrel pick. First pour of the night. [12:32] Scout Carry Deep DiveNo kink shaming. SOB carry allegedly put a cop in a wheelchair. Scout vs. bandido vs. appendix vs. Mexican carry debated. Appendix carry = built-in diet accountability. Paracord trigger-guard holster trick explained. [22:02] Draw Hunts & Alaska Hunting StoriesDraw hunt conspiracy theories. A great-grandfather's 40-year bison quest won at age 80+ with a drop-block 45-70 Sharps. Spine-shot deer. TBD's resume: bear, deer, goat, caribou. [23:22] The Haul Road HuntMall Ninja Kid and Steve Renos (Bullets for Bucks) driving 18 hours to Dead Horse to pack-raft caribou country. 100-lb pack vs. 30-lb ultralight setup. Game sled recommendation. [27:57] Gear: Lithium Air Compressors & Tire Kits$cheap Amazon lithium compressor, one per glove box. Patch kit, impact wrench, right socket — don't be the guy with a scissor jack. [29:38] Rifles, Suppressors & VehiclesChristensen Arms 300 Win Mag at 5 lbs vs. $10K Fierce in 300 PRC at 9 lbs. Dead Air suppressor added. Then: Mall Ninja Kid's 2025 Jeep Willys, Stellantis electrical gremlins, and the Venture 4WD overlanding rabbit hole. [38:07] Truck Guns & Truck Knives Old Man Folders: KRISS Vector 10mm + Ontario machete (stolen, then resold to him by the thief) Mall Ninja Kid: Suppressed SBR Draco + NOR Knives Amok TBD: Draco / Krinkov + Bark River Bravo 1 in Magnacut [55:01] Future Knife Trends & Industry RantMore finger-ring daggers. Less mechanical complexity for its own sake. Elegance hiding engineering — Jack Wolf, Pena, Panchenko called out. TBD wants monolithic frame button-lock flippers. Old Man Folders' ProTech Godson fires and annihilates a glass of bourbon mid-discussion. [55:01] Gerber Flat Iron TangentDakota has six. Two are hostages with stripped screws. Cerakote and custom scales discussed. [1:05:32] Sharpening Myth BustedBelt grinding does NOT ruin your heat treat. "If it heats more than it eats, trash the belt." Steel needs 450°F+ to lose temper — you'd blister before that happens. Also: the knifemaker killed by his own buffer, and why the shop cages theirs in 5-gallon buckets. [1:10:00] Outro"We are Old Man Folders and the Mall Ninja Kid."

Episode 2 - Rule #1-3 Of Knife Fights - Don't Get In A Knife Fight

Old Man Folders and the Mall Ninja Kid - Episode 2 Join Old Man Folders (Mike) and the Mall Ninja Kid for a wild ride through knife culture, self-defense, and Alaska living. This episode dives deep into the brutal reality of knife fights - spoiler alert: nobody wins. CHAPTERS: 0:00:06 - Introduction Welcome to the Grotto - Northern Knives' media room where knives, cigars, and whiskey fuel conversations about all things tactical and badass. 0:00:58 - Knife Fights & Self-DefenseThe hosts break down why knife fights are the dumbest thing you can get into. Rule #1: Don't get in a knife fight. Rule #2: Don't get in a knife fight. Rule #3: Don't get in a knife fight. The loser dies in the street, the winner dies in the ambulance. Discussion covers karambit design, why they're hard to disarm, and the ultimate equalizer effect of blades. 0:06:36 - Knife Fight Video Analysis Watch and analyze a shocking mall knife fight from New Zealand/Australia (https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/s/1yOmXLyOuB (https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/s/1yOmXLyOuB)). The 10mm explosion story and how one video about confronting liberals in the woods got half a million views. 0:52:06 - Alaska Hunting Stories Epic tales of black-tailed deer hunting in Kodiak (the hardest hunt ever), progressive hikers interfering with bear hunts, and why Alaska's $75 venison burgers are worth every penny. Plus: dall sheep hunting disasters and why you need to do squats all year. 0:57:16 - Bushcraft & Gatekeeping The problem with bushcraft culture: amazing knives and skills ruined by elitist gatekeeping. From 27-hour flint knapping seminars to feather stick purists, the guys discuss affordable bushcraft knives (ESEE, Tops, Condor) and why ordering fat wood on Amazon is perfectly fine.

Episode 1 - Well, We Gotta Start Somewhere

Join Mike ("Old Man Folders"), Chuke ("Mall Ninja Kid"), and their un named producer for the inaugural episode of their knife and firearms podcast, recorded in the studio beneath Northern Knives shop. Buffalo Bore, Bigfoot & Cryptid HuntingChu kicks things off with his incredible interview with Tim Sundles, founder of Buffalo Bore Ammunition. Sundles doesn't hold back—he openly discusses his belief in Bigfoot and Dog Man, shares stories of hunters who've encountered these cryptids, and declares he'll hunt one himself. When the feds inevitably show up to confiscate the body (as he claims they always do), there will be "bloodshed." It's a refreshingly unfiltered conversation with someone who truly doesn't care what anyone thinks. Shot Show & Area 51 AdventureThe hosts preview their upcoming Shot Show trip, but Chu has bigger plans. He and New York Prepper are ditching the convention halfway through to explore the back gate of Area 51 and climb Tikaboo Peak—one of the only legal vantage points to view the secretive base. Armed with survival knives, thermals, and telephoto lenses, they're more excited about this adventure than the show itself. Glock Gen 6 First ImpressionsMike shares his hands-on experience with the new Glock Gen 6, discussing the improved frame, baby beaver tail, better stippling, undercut trigger guard, and factory features that previously required expensive aftermarket modifications. The hosts debate whether it's enough to compete with ZEV and Shadow Systems. Suppressors & The End of Tax StampsWith tax stamps eliminated, the hosts discuss their recent suppressor purchases (with approval times down to just 2-5 days) and debate whether the system will get overwhelmed. Mike shares his SBR project plans, including dreams of an HK G3 with collapsible stock and suppressor. Knife Industry Hot TakesThe crew doesn't hold back on their industry opinions: Death to outdated 2010-era "theme carry" photos with matching hanks, knives, and watches Chinese knives mostly suck (except the Microtech/Rike Socom Bravo collaboration) O-Light makes decent flashlights but terrible knives with cult-like followers ZT's redemption arc with their new Micarta auto in Cruwear—the first ZT in years worth buying Magnacut is overrated; Cruwear is superior Non-reversible or proprietary knife clips are unforgivable design sins Northern Knives Shop StoriesThe hosts paint a vivid picture of life at Northern Knives, where customers try to sell gold teeth, rare Cold Steel Emperor sets slip through their fingers, and every day brings weird swords, unusual trades, and characters straight out of a reality show. Pocket Dumps & Grail KnivesEach host shares their current EDC setup, from Mike's custom Cerakoted Strider SSMF and IWC Aqua Master watch to Chu's fully serrated Microtech Socom Bravo and XM-24. They discuss their "grail knives"—the pieces they'd buy instantly if they appeared at reasonable prices, including the Seabert-designed Benchmade Gold Class double action and the legendary Cold Steel Emperor Tanto set. Knife Fight Reality CheckThe episode wraps with a sobering discussion about knife fights: Rule #1, #2, and #3 are all "don't get in a knife fight." You don't win—you just determine how badly you get cut. This unfiltered, conversational episode sets the tone for what promises to be an entertaining podcast series covering knives, firearms, gear, and the occasional cryptid hunt.
