I retired a few years ago and now that I’m not working, I have more free time and I’m spending a lot of it with other old people.

I’ve always stereotyped old people as being kind of grumpy, not particularly friendly, and not particularly happy. Instead, what I’ve found is that, as a group, old people tend to be friendly, easy to get to know, laid back and are all about just enjoying life.

The remarkable thing is that as I’ve hung around these people and gotten to know them, I find that attitude has rubbed off on me. So -- I got an idea --- it would be nice if more of us could get to know these people a little bit and maybe this fun-loving bug would be infectious.

For that reason, I’m going to introduce you to some of these characters.

Among the many interesting people you’ll meet is a couple in their 70s who have turned their acreage into a spiritual sanctuary that includes a Sacred Stone Circle of prehistoric standing stones. You will also meet a 70-year-old man who makes a living picking up gigs as a one-man band living out of his RV as he travels north in the summer and south in the winter. You will also meet people whose lives appear to be completely ordinary, but for some reason seem to be very happy.

I’m hoping, as you listen to the podcasts, you’ll find yourself doing what these people do, that is as Monty Python says, “Always look on the bright side of life”.
