About Olobo Ozuitem

Olobo means town or village square. It is a place where people gather and socialise usually in the evenings. It is often an avenue for knowledge transfer and staying up to date with happenings in the community, and is open to everyone regardless of age or social standing. Here, we will explore and preserve renditions of Ozuitem customs and traditions including folklore, idioms, wise sayings, oral history and general knowledge with the aim of preserving our customs for the future generations, as well as those interested in learning about the Ozuitem people of Abia State, Nigeria.

   Ote Uwadilachi Ikegwu Ijioma of Ndiagho Ozuitem narrates the burial rites and customs as it concerns burying both young and older males, while Elder Ogan Okere from Ndi Umazi, Mba, touches on the burial rites for women in Ozuitem. Mazi Onyema Obike expands on what counts as an abominable death and how Ozuitem handles the burial when such an event occurs.
