Ecofeminist Thought & Rewilding : The Rewilding Series, Episode 6

"Rewilding is messy. Wild places are places of life, and of death. Places of growth and decay, of scavenging, of predation, of prey. They're not pretty places. They're places which display the gore and guts of nature, but also her beauty" This will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about rewilding and how our ecological future might look. Lending an ecofeminist voice to the conversation Susan Baker, professor of environmental policy at Cardiff University. Susan examines the rewilding movement through a feminist lens touching on issues of control, oppression, expectations and dualism in our relationship with nature and the environment. Is rewilding, as we know it, the right route to take? This is the last in The Rewilding Series podcasts, recording from Tom's shed, at the bottom of his garden in Peckham. Tom is joined, once again, by Anna Souter co-curator of Rewind/Rewild, to chat about this exciting new way of thinking about the natural world. As part of the Rewind/Rewild exhibition, Anna and co-curator Beatrice Searle invited thought leaders and creatives working in the area of rewilding to participate in the Rewilding Forum. Susan's talk was recorded here. Although this is the last in the series, we have new podcasts with fresh topics, new guests and new sheds in the pipeline. Follow us to be notified of new episodes. Interspecies Creativity: The Rewilding Series, Episode 5

How do humans relate to non humans? Can art facilitate cooperation? This is the space in which Feral Practice likes to explore. We return to Tom's shed for our 5th podcast episode on rewilding, co-hosted by Anna Souter, co-curator of Rewind/Rewild. Fiona MacDonald is an artist and researcher who works with human and nonhuman beings as Feral Practice, to create art projects across species boundaries, and interdisciplinary events that develop ethical and imaginative relations across species boundaries. Listen here to Fiona in conversation with Tom Jeffreys as part of the Rewind/Rewild exhibition held at OmVed Gardens. Tom is a writer and curator, and editor of The Learned Pig. He writes primarily about contemporary art, and is particularly interested in work that crosses over into the sciences or explores our relationship with the environment.
