On Air with Brett Huber: Mary Peltola Under Fire, Trump Comes to Alaska & Election Chaos

A major New York Times investigation, President Donald Trump's visit to Alaska, and a governor's race heating up as Election Day approaches. Brett Huber and co-host Halle Carter discuss allegations of staff mistreatment against former Congresswoman Mary Peltola, what they could mean for her Senate race against Dan Sullivan, and why Trump is heading to Wasilla. Halle shares her takeaways from Alaska's gubernatorial debate as they examine the candidates, campaign tactics, negative advertising, and the growing influence of money in politics. They also tackle new North Slope oil exploration rules, rural heating fuel approaching $8 a gallon, and the rising cost of living that's putting pressure on Alaska families. With Election Day approaching, Brett and Halle ask whether voters are getting real answers or just another political reality show. Trump’s Alaska LNG Push, Outside Money & the Election Fight for Alaska’s Future

Big things are happening in Alaska, and Brett Huber and co-host Halle Carter are digging into what they could mean for the state’s future. President Trump is putting new attention on the long-discussed Alaska LNG project, while Vice President JD Vance heads to Fairbanks as Alaska’s election season enters its final stretch. Brett and Halle debate whether the gasline is closer to reality than ever before, what international investment could mean for Alaska, and why the decisions made over the next several months could shape the state for decades. The conversation then turns to Alaska’s increasingly expensive political races, campaign advertising, outside money, ranked-choice voting, the governor’s race, and whether candidates are actually telling Alaskans what they plan to do—or simply saying what polling tells them voters want to hear. Halle brings the perspective of a younger Alaskan beginning to dig deeper into state politics, while Brett draws on more than three decades working around Alaska campaigns and government. They also tackle a bigger question: What does “Alaska First” actually mean? From natural resources and the Permanent Fund to education, energy, jobs, and the future facing younger Alaskans, Brett argues that voters should look beyond the ads, research the candidates, and start treating elections more like a job interview for the people asking to run the state. On Air with Brett Huber: Who Really Gets Alaska’s Resources?

Alaska has the fish, the natural gas, the land, the water, and enormous potential—but who should benefit from those resources first? Brett Huber is joined again by co-host Halle Carter for a wide-ranging conversation about some of the biggest questions facing Alaska. They start with the growing fight over Alaska’s fisheries: trawlers, commercial fishermen, sport fishermen, subsistence users, and whether Alaskans should get first priority when it comes to the resources that belong to the state. From there, Brett and Halle tackle AI and massive data centers, Alaska’s governor’s race, ranked-choice voting, education, the future of the gasline, energy security, and why so many Alaskans are frustrated with the political process. They also talk about what all of these decisions mean for younger Alaskans trying to build careers, raise families, and stay in the state. It’s exactly what On Air with Brett Huber is about: two generations, different perspectives, honest questions, some disagreements, and a conversation about where Alaska goes from here. On Air with Brett Huber: Is Alaska Being Sold to the Highest Bidder?

It’s fall in Alaska—moose season, football season, and election season. And Brett Huber says Alaskans need to start paying attention to who is trying to shape the state’s future. In this episode of On Air with Brett Huber, Brett digs into the governor’s race, ranked-choice voting, the increasingly expensive U.S. Senate battle, fisheries, education, the Legislature, and the flood of outside money pouring into Alaska politics. He also raises questions about the growing interest in Alaska’s natural gas and energy resources from AI and data-center companies—and what Alaskans should demand before those resources are committed. Brett argues that voters should look beyond campaign advertising and political personalities and start asking harder questions: Who is funding these candidates? What do they actually want to accomplish? Who benefits from their policies? And will Alaska’s resources create opportunity for Alaskans—or primarily for companies and interests outside the state? From commercial fishing and declining salmon runs to education, energy, jobs, and the future facing the next generation, Brett’s message is that Alaskans still have a voice—but only if they use it. On Air with Brett Huber: Alaska Is Losing Its Way. Can We Fix It?

Alaska has incredible resources, enormous potential, and generations of people who have built their lives here. So why does it feel like the state is moving in the wrong direction? In this episode of On Air with Brett Huber, Brett comes to you from the banks of the Kenai River for a candid look at the political battles shaping Alaska’s future. He breaks down the latest twists in the governor’s race, the high-stakes United States Senate race, ranked-choice voting, key legislative contests, and why he believes Alaskans need to look beyond campaign ads and start asking tougher questions. Brett also digs into some of the bigger challenges facing the state—education, fisheries, energy, the gasline, government spending, and whether Alaska is still creating the kind of opportunity that allowed previous generations to build businesses, raise families, and thrive here. His message is clear: Alaska’s future isn’t predetermined. But if Alaskans want something better, they have to get involved, pay attention, vote, and demand more from the people who represent them. Is Alaska Doomed? Two Generations Have an Honest Conversation

Can young Alaskans still afford to build a life, buy a home, start a business, raise a family, and create a future in the state they love? On this episode of On Air with Brett Huber, Brett is joined for the first time by new co-host Halle Carter, a lifelong Alaskan who brings a very different generational perspective to the show. Brett has spent 35 years around Alaska politics and public policy. Halle openly admits she’s still trying to understand a political system that often feels confusing, overwhelming, and disconnected from the problems people her age actually face. Together, they ask a much bigger question: Is Alaska still creating opportunity for the next generation—or are bad policies getting in the way? They get into the aftermath of Alaska’s primary election, ranked-choice voting, the state’s budget problems, natural resources, oil and gas, education, the proposed gasline, the influence of money in Juneau, and why so many Alaskans feel increasingly disconnected from their government. They don’t agree on everything—and that’s exactly the point. On Air with Brett Huber is about having the conversations Alaskans should be having: politics, business, the economy, faith, family, opportunity, culture, and the future of the state—with some humor and common sense along the way. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly of Alaska’s Governor Race

Who should be Alaska’s next governor—and is anyone in the field really ready to lead the state? On this episode of On Air with Brett Huber, Brett gives his candid, unfiltered assessment of the governor’s race. After decades inside Alaska politics, he knows the process, understands the players, and has seen firsthand how political decisions are really made. He breaks down what he sees in the current field, where he thinks candidates are strong, where they fall short, and why voters should look past polished resumes and campaign talking points. The conversation also goes well beyond personalities. Brett digs into the issues he believes Alaska’s next governor must confront, including the budget, fisheries, resource development, education, the Permanent Fund Dividend, ranked-choice voting, the cost of living, and whether young Alaskans will still be able to build a future here. This isn’t an endorsement. It’s an insider’s perspective and a challenge to Alaska voters: ask better questions, demand real answers, and decide what kind of state you want to leave to the next generation. 35 Years Behind the Curtain: How Alaska Politics Really Works

In the first episode of On Air with Brett Huber, Brett shares the story of how Alaska became home—and why, after more than three decades inside Alaska politics and government, he believes it’s time to fight for the opportunities that once defined the Last Frontier. From arriving in Alaska in 1984 with a young family, a Jeep, a U-Haul, and $600 to his unexpected entrance into politics, Brett reflects on the people, experiences, and lessons that shaped his view of public service. He also explains how Juneau has changed, why money and power play such an important role in the political process, and why he believes too many young Alaskans are questioning whether they can afford a home, raise a family, build a career, or create a future here. Brett also lays out what listeners can expect from On Air: an insider’s look at how Alaska really works, along with conversations about politics, business, the economy, family, faith, culture, opportunity, and the future of Alaska.
