One Step at a Time: Lessons from the Camino on Life, Loss & Letting Go

Some journeys are about reaching a destination. Others are about reconnecting with something much deeper. ❤️ On 30th September, I set off on the Camino de Santiago from Valença, Portugal, to walk the path my mum walked years ago, sometimes up to 1,000km (!). To honour her bravery, remember her, and gift myself the silence and solitude I’d been craving. It’s hard to encapsulate the experience. Emotional, physically and mentally challenging, moments of feeling broken, then the elation of finishing each day. And the reward of a shower, fresh clothes (the same evening outfit every night 🤣) and a glass of wine or two! I’d settle into my room with my Kindle or Netflix, then wake excited for sunrise and the next day’s mission. Anywhere from 12–25km, often carrying my 8kg bag. On two tough days I chose not to. But on the final, longest stretch into Santiago de Compostela, I carried it. 💪 This pilgrimage was mainly for my mum. I used to think walking like she did was for ‘old people’. My oh my, was I wrong! Walking 6–7 hours a day in the heat, with hills, is no easy feat. I met people of all ages and walks of life. Some had lost loved ones, some wanted to find themselves, others were ticking off a bucket-list adventure. Two Dutch women, friends for 24 years, had both lost a son and wanted to walk together. The support and camaraderie were beautiful. So was how people honoured their boundaries. They’d share a conversation or say they wanted to continue in silence. People felt into what was true for them, and expressed it. What a metaphor for life! Listen to this episode for my full reflections. Coming out of the Camino, I feel reflective, craving a simpler, slower life and deeper connections with people and nature. What that looks like, I’m surrendering to. Because I don’t need to know. That’s the beauty of being present and taking life one step at a time. Would I do it again? Absolutely! I’m already thinking about when and where for 2027. Have you walked the Camino, or thought about it? I’d love to hear your takeaways. Drop me a message!

From Corporate to Portfolio Life: How to De-Risk Your Leap Into Entrepreneurship with Camilla Boyer

Most people stay trapped in corporate because it feels safer, not because it fits. Camilla Boyer reveals how she turned a high-powered tech career into a portfolio life, built a business on her own terms, and de-risked the leap before she ever quit. If you’ve ever felt pulled toward something more but worried about losing stability, this conversation is for you. Susanna and Camilla trace the real path from Morgan Stanley to Twitter, Salesforce, and startup life, then into Corazon, Camilla’s storytelling and strategic communications company for venture capital and portfolio companies. You’ll discover: How to tell whether your restlessness is a push away from burnout or a pull toward purpose The de-risking framework Camilla used to quit with confidence, including runway, incorporating a company, and securing clients before launch Why she spent a year building Corazon on weekends before going full-time How market research reshaped her offer by 40% after launch Why she believes storytelling is a competitive advantage in the age of AI Camilla also breaks down the difference between building a business you love and building a business the market actually wants. She shares why startups come to her for brand, positioning, executive communication, keynote preparation, and founder storytelling—and why human connection is becoming more valuable as AI-generated content floods every platform. This episode goes deeper than career advice. It is about freedom, autonomy, conviction, and learning how to build a life that matches your values instead of someone else’s definition of success. If you’re in corporate, thinking about entrepreneurship, or trying to make your next move without gambling everything, this conversation gives you a practical way to start. Essential listening if you want to create more freedom in your work, trust your instincts without being reckless, and build something people actually need.
