One full hour of rare groove, deep cuts and forgotten gems from the 60's and early 70's with a heavy leaning towards soul. 100% vinyl, with host Mod Marty!
https://ontargetpodcast.caForget the straight line—this week On Target takes the long way around. Mod Marty pulls together a beautifully unruly collection of ’60s and ’70s sounds, where sweet soul can crash into dirty R&B, sharp mod cuts, and anything else that earns a place on the turntable. Strap in, drop the needle, and enjoy the detour.-----------------------------------------------The playlist is:"Carl's Dance Party"Carl "Little Rev" Lattimore- Capitol"Out Of The Frying Pan"Al "TNT" Braggs- Peacock"Tighten Up"Sterling Magee- Tangerine"Where Did Our Love Go"- Sweet Soul Music LP"Heartbreak (It's Hurtin' Me)"Little Willie John- King"Fannie Mae"Buster Brown- Quality"Wild Cherry"Leroy Washington- Reo"I'm Afraid You'll Put Me Down"Chuck Sargent & The Ambassadors- Cuca"Actions Speak Louder Than Words"Tidal Waves- HBR"You Gotta Leave Us Alone"The Outsiders- Capitol"I'll Give You Time"The Outsiders - Capitol"Stirrin' Up Some Soul"The Marketts- Warner Brothers"Music To My Heart"Patti Austin- ABC"Aint No Sun (Since Youve Been Gone)"The Dynamics- Cotillion"So Fine"The Fabulous Peps- Premium Stuff"The Love I Need"Frank Butler - J.V."Raw Hide"Link Wray & The Wraymen Epic"I Won't Be The Same Without Her Capitol"The Twilights- Capitol"Heart Full Of Soul"The Soulful Bowlful- Sweet Soul Music LP"Dig"The ViscountsReo

Episode 591: Funky To Me
https://ontargetpodcast.caThis week, On Target takes the scenic route and somehow ends up in all the right places. Mod Marty digs into the ’60s and ’70s for a lively mix of soul, R&B, mod, rock, and the odd record that refuses to stay in its lane. Expect sharp turns, unexpected connections, and plenty of moments where you’ll wonder how one song led to the next. That’s the fun of On Target.-----------------------------------------------The playlist is:"Sweet Soul Music"The Soulful Bowlful- Sweet Soul Music LP"Let The Groove Move You"Gus "The Groove" Lewis- Tou-Sea"There Was A Time"James Brown & The Famous Flames- King"Funky To Me"Kent Meade- Magic Carpet"Jerk It"The Gypsies- Old Town"Something Inside Me"Ray Charles- ABC"Hot Stuff"Tidal Waves- HBR"Needle In A Haystack"The Twilights- Capitol"I Can't Dance With You"The Small Faces- Decca"Girl Why You Wanna Make Me Blue"The Temptations- Gordy"Talk Of The Grapevine"Donald Height- Shout"A Girl Like You"The Soulful Bowlful- Sweet Soul Music LP"Angel Baby (Don't You Leave Me)"Darrell Banks- Atco"Little Darling"Marvin Gaye- Tamla-Motown"Love And Respect (Is Due A Mother)"The Inovations- Hit Sound"Mirza"Nino Ferrer- Riviera"Wasn't It you"The Action- Parlophone"Sara Jane"Gary Lewis & His Playboys- Liberty"Sugar Sugar"Jimmy McGriff- Capitol

Episode 590: We Got A Groove
https://ontargetpodcast.caNo, we haven’t sacrificed a goat, but it’s absolute carnage on On Target this week. There are horns and organs everywhere as Mod Marty lets the vinyl run completely wild, tearing through soul, R&B, mod, and rock with barely a moment to catch your breath. Fuzz guitars are flying, drums are smoking, and somehow, amid all the mayhem, the whole thing locks into place. Consider yourself warned.-----------------------------------------------The playlist is:"So Far Away"Hank Jacobs- Sue"Going Down A One Way Street (The Wrong Way)"Little Ann- Ric-Tic "Taking Care Of Business"Young Hearts - Minit"Seven Days"The Apollas- Warner - Seven Arts"Boogaloo (Soul) Party"The Brothers Two- Crimson"Fat Back"Mr. Wiggles- Parkway"We Got A Groove"Little Sonny- Revilot"Stop Look and Listen"David Lindup- KPM"Dance With Me"The Blendells- Reprise"Mary Mary"The Birdwatchers- Mala"Lonely Love"Bettye Swann- Money"My Weakness Is You"Edwin Starr- Tamla-Motown"You've Been Cheatin"The Impressions- ABC-Paramount"Broken Heart Attack"The Sweet- Smash"Stop And Get A Hold Of Myself"Gladys Knight & The Pips- Maxx"You're Gonna Love My Baby"Barbara McNair- Motown"Vis Ta Vie (Soul Time)"Nicoletta- Riviera"Shot Down"The Sonics- Etiquette"Absolutely Positively"The Music Machine- Original Sound"Off The Hook"Big Moose & The Jams- Age
