"Six Months In: Lynde Rosario on Leading AJT Programming" (Season 5, Episode 3) welcomes back Lynde Rosario, Executive Director for Programming at AJT and dramaturg based in New York City, for a check-in on her first six months at the helm.
Lynde reflects on what's surprised her most about the role. From the Guthrie Theater to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, she draws on her rich background as a dramaturg and how that lens has shaped her approach to programming and community-building at AJT. We dig into the evolution of the monthly Member Meet-Ups, new initiatives launched this year, and how she's stewarding the AJT Resource Guide as it continues to reach theaters across the field.
The conversation also explores the partnerships Lynde has been building, her vision for supporting early-career Jewish theatre-makers, and where she sees the field heading. Ali first appeared on the podcast in Season 2, Episode 3, and returns to discuss the groundbreaking AJT Resource Guide she spearheaded - a comprehensive tool for theaters producing Jewish work with authenticity and care.
In this conversation, Ali shares the three-year journey of creating the Resource Guide, compiled with input from over 50 Jewish artists, casting directors, dramaturgs, development professionals, and artistic leaders. We explore the stories that compelled this project and discuss how theaters can move beyond stereotypes toward deeper collaboration and understanding.

"None of This Is an Individual Process" (Season 5, Episode 1) welcomes Andy Horwitz, a writer and cultural producer whose work bridges experimental theater and Jewish communal practice in unexpected ways.
From his tenure at the Foundation for Jewish Culture during the era of contemporary Jewish cultural renaissance to his current explorations of theatrical form and Jewish thought, Horwitz offers a unique perspective on how Jewish collaborative traditions might reimagine theater-making itself. In this conversation, Horwitz discusses Joe Chaikin and the Open Theater's connection to Jewish communal structures like the morning minyan, why he's more interested in forms that embody Jewish thought than simply Jewish stories, and how theaters might learn from Jewish institutions about collective leadership and sustained community. Drawing on his influential essay "The Theater(s) We Need Now" and his JTS lecture on Jews, Theatre and Performance in an intercultural world, we explore concepts like midrash and tikkun olam as frameworks for understanding theater's civic potential.
