Ninety percent of pastors around the world have never had formal training. In the last handful of years, 21C has trained more than 100,000 pastors and church leaders. So what are we actually teaching them, and is it any good?
Leanne White, co-founder of 21C, helped build our study model, so Jared spent this episode asking her how it works. She talks about our first training in Haiti, where hungry pastors still nodded off during the lectures, the pastor in Kenya who told us we could do better, and how 10 to 15 pastors with a Bible and a good set of questions end up starting more groups of their own.

Culture, Not Committee: Doing Missions That Outlast the Going | E58
In this final episode of their four-part series on how every believer can invest in the global church, Jared and Leanne tackle a question that matters more than most churches realize: are we doing missions in a way that actually lasts? They walk through the diagnostic questions 21C has learned to ask over years of cross-cultural ministry — did we bring something that was actually needed, or something we wanted to give? What happens the week after we leave? Is any of this sustainable without us?
From there, they talk about what long-term missions calling actually looks like in Scripture (less mystical than we've made it, more communal than we expect), and they close with a challenge that might reframe how your church thinks about the Great Commission: the goal isn't to build a church where everyone becomes a missionary. It's to build a church where everyone understands that they belong to a missionary God.

Partners, Not Donors: What It Really Means to Support Those Who Are Sent | E57
In this episode, Jared and Leanne continue their series on how every believer can invest in the global church — and this time they tackle a question the church talks about too little: what happens after the send-off? Researchers have studied missionary attrition for over thirty years, and the finding that keeps surfacing is that most departures aren't caused by danger or persecution. They're caused by the preventable stuff — dried-up support, unresolved conflict, isolation that went on too long, and churches that meant every word of their commissioning prayer but gradually stopped thinking about the people they sent.
Jared and Leanne unpack why 21C uses the word "partners" instead of "donors," what Paul's relationship with the Philippian church teaches us about mutual investment, and how one faithful pastor in Michigan set off a chain of impact that reaches hundreds of thousands of people today.
