[…] So for those who are paying attention, there's a difference between global ratings, and written reviews on Amazon. And most of us just didn't know that. So when you're looking at a product page for a book at the very top, there is a hyperlinked number and that is the number of global ratings. That's the number of people who took the time to leave a one through five star review. The thing is they don't have to buy a book or leave a written review in order to leave a one through five star rating. So they're like not hugely valuable in total. And for a lot of authors, the percentage is like somewhere between 25 and 35 percent of the number of global ratings is the number of people who wrote a review. […]
