Conversations, commentary and stories from the soul of football — from supporter culture and Scottish football to coaching, lower leagues and the people who make the game what it is.
Football’s not just a game — it’s spiritual.
Cammy Gill – Life as Montrose’s No.1, Goalkeeper Mentality & Building an Academy
I’ve been working closely with Cammy Gill and No.1 Goalkeeping Academy, so this was a great opportunity to sit down with him and properly understand the goalkeeper’s side of football.
It’s such a unique—and often lonely—position. A mistake can cost your team a goal, a game or even a trophy, and there’s nowhere to hide from it.
As Montrose’s number one, Cammy has learned that making mistakes is unavoidable. What matters is how you respond, stay level-headed and prepare yourself for whatever comes next.
That mentality became one of the main themes of our conversation.

What Comes After Pep? Arteta, Arsenal & the Next Evolution of Football
Where does football go after Pep Guardiola?I've been reading Inverting the Pyramid and one thing keeps standing out — football tactics move in cycles. One manager changes the game, everyone adapts, and eventually someone finds a new way to win.Guardiola transformed modern football, but are we now starting to see the next evolution? With Mikel Arteta and Arsenal combining positional play with physicality, set pieces, duels and a more direct approach, could this be a glimpse of where the game is heading next?Let me know where you think football tactics are heading.

Kerr Dodds: Thinking Bigger, Building a Pathway & The Future of Whitehill Welfare
This journey is taking me to some cool places.
About a month ago Kerr Dodds reached out to me to see if I would be interested in helping document his idea he has for his East Side Rapids Academy and Whitehill Welfare. A well known club in Edinburgh, Scotland of which he is now chairman.
After we first met I immediately said to Kerr we need to do a podcast on everything we just spoke about so here it is.
Why in Scotland cant we think bigger? It's always a case of having the piss taken out of you when you do. It's part of our culture.
You don't need to be a football fan for this one.
The theme is Thinking Bigger.
Enjoy.
- Josh
