Episode 22: What Does It Cost You to Keep Waiting for Permission? A conversation with Fay Niewiadomski

Dr. Fay Niewiadomski grew up in Jamaica to Lebanese parents, married a Polish husband, lived in New York, traveled to nearly every continent, and has spent the last 35 years running ICTN, a global consultancy where she coaches CEOs, boards, and actual heads of state on leadership and culture transformation. She also co-founded a university. Just, you know, casually.
She's the author of the new book Decisions That Matter: Rethink, Reimagine, and Reset Your Life. And friends, the title is not a gimmick. This woman has lived every single word of it.
We get into what it really means to stop waiting for permission to become who you actually are, the moment her office was literally bombed and her life's work turned to ash, and what she chose to do next. We dig into why the path of least resistance is a slippery slope to nowhere, why directing 35 theater productions made her a better leadership consultant, and the three things every great leader needs working in chemistry together: competence, courage, and compassion.
And then she shares the question that cracked open one of the most powerful leaders she ever coached. Five words. An uncomfortable silence. And for the first time in that person's career, an apology followed.
