<p>Over the past couple years as we’ve navigated division and polarization in our culture, we’ve all no doubt heard statements from people that elicit the initial reaction: “how in the world could you think that?” And if we follow our first impulse, the next step is often to immediately write that person off. But intellectual maturity and coming to the table with people who think wildly different demands that we make an effort to understand that person, where they are coming from, and how they arrived at what they believe. Along the way, this pursuit of different perspectives can also help us navigate our own blind spots and falsities!
