🎙️ One Way to Find Out | Episode 10: Tyler Tolbert (Part I)
What does it take to make it to the big leagues, keep grinding through the ups and downs of professional baseball, and make MLB history along the way? We get into all of it in this episode of One Way to Find Out.
Cal and Kendall sit down with Tyler Tolbert of the Kansas City Royals for an in-depth conversation about his journey to the Major Leagues, the work behind the scenes, and a historic stretch at the plate that put his name in the MLB record books.
🔥 12 STRAIGHT PLATE APPEARANCES. 12 CONSECUTIVE HITS. MLB HISTORY.
In July 2026, Tyler did something that had only been accomplished twice before in Major League history: recording a hit in 12 consecutive plate appearances. Tyler became just the third player ever to reach that mark, tying a record that had stood for more than 70 years.
The streak spanned three games against the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. After going 2-for-2 against Philadelphia, Tyler followed it up with a perfect 5-for-5 performance before collecting another five hits against the Mets. His historic night included a two-run home run and four singles, with his speed helping him beat out multiple infield hits. He even broke the Royals' franchise record for consecutive plate appearances with a hit.
And to top it all off? The bat he used during his record-tying performance is headed to Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. ⚾
But there's much more to Tyler's story than the record.
In Part I, Cal and Kendall dive into:
The details behind Tyler's historic 12-hit streak and what it means to make MLB history
Playing the utility role and using speed as a major weapon
Training with Tinsley Performance since high school
How his family helped shape his discipline, mindset, and work ethic
His path to the big leagues, including the challenges of getting called up and sent back down to the minors
The consistency, resilience, and mental toughness it takes to keep chasing the dream
Tyler's journey is a reminder that success doesn't happen overnight. It's built through years of preparation, sacrifice, and showing up when opportunities come.
We unpacked so much in this conversation that we had to make it a two-part episode — and this is only Part I.
🎧 Tune in to Episode 10 of One Way to Find Out and hear Tyler Tolbert's story in his own words.
