OnlineBound with Elena Mutonono is a podcast for online language teachers and coaches who are tired of cramming more client hours into their day and look for ways to grow their business in a smart, lean and sustainable way.
In this podcast we explore the topics of authenticity, sustainability, values, efficiency, resilience and creativity when running an online teaching business in an oversaturated language teaching market.
We will broaden our horizons, challenge our mindset and forge our own paths amidst loud and demanding voices of scarcity and pursuit of fast profits at any cost.
Together we will build resilience as we journey into the unknown, commitment to the change we seek to make and faith in creating a better world by connecting people across cultures through teaching languages online.
Akari on creating space for hobbies and writing after switching to voice chats
Like many online teachers, Akari was teaching 1:1 lessons through a platform and getting totally burned out. She had created a solid foundation for her business, but needed a change.
When she discovered the idea of teaching through voice chats, she didn't hesitate. She tried it out with a new student and it was a great experience for both of them.
Now her students are getting better results, and she prefers giving feedback asynchronously. She has a reasonable schedule and more time to spend on her hobbies, writing, and podcast.

Rocio on how voice chats improved her pronunciation course
When Rocio first started teaching with voice chats, she didn't think anyone would pay her for that type of feedback. That changed after she tried the Asynchronous Program In A Box.
It gave her clarity on how to run a conversation program, and she learned to be more confident about giving feedback. She followed the steps, adapted it, and gave it a try.
Now students see the benefits and tell her she's really good at giving feedback through voice chats. She sees benefits too, and surprisingly feels closer to her students than ever before.

Linda Riolo on building a sustainable business to prioritize motherhood
Linda joined the Smart Teacher's Library in 2018. Eight years and two children later, she has found her niche and a new way of working that allows her to prioritize motherhood.
Her podcast had already become successful when she became pregnant with her first child. She knew teaching 1:1 wasn't sustainable, but was afraid to let go of that approach.
Through coaching, she changed her mindset and developed her first asynchronous program. Now she feels voice chats are often a better teaching approach than 1;1 for many students.
