In this personal episode of Only for a Season, I reflect on my father's journey from Puerto Rico to Cleveland, Ohio, as a young man. He came without his brothers or sisters, spoke very little English, and had to build a life in an unfamiliar place.
Now, at 67 years old, I find myself wondering about the things I never thought to ask him. Was he lonely? Did he miss his family? What struggles did he face that we never knew about?
I also share memories of his old suitcase, the one he kept packed with clothes for a trip back to Puerto Rico that never happened, and the quiet faith that guided him throughout his life.
This episode is about the sacrifices our parents made, the questions we wish we'd asked, and learning to appreciate the blessings they left behind.

Good Intentions
We all have good intentions.
We mean to make the call, visit the friend, help someone who’s struggling, or thank the person who did something kind for us.
But sometimes we never follow through.
In this episode of Only for a Season, I talk about the difference between meaning to do something good and actually doing it. Using a simple conversation I had over coffee, along with several Bible verses, we look at why following through matters and why we shouldn’t always assume we’ll get around to it later.
Good intentions are a good place to start. But they shouldn’t always be where we stop.

What’s on your camera roll?
If you went back through the last year or two of pictures and videos on your phone, what would you find?
In this episode of Only for a Season, I talk about why the photos we take can become some of the most meaningful things we own as the years go by. Pictures of our spouse, children, grandchildren, parents, family gatherings, vacations, and even ordinary days can bring back memories we may have otherwise forgotten.
I also share why I believe young parents and grandparents should take the pictures, record the videos, and make sure those memories are backed up and saved.
Because someday, those pictures may feel less like photos and more like little visits with people, places, and seasons of life we can’t go back to.
