The Child Protection System, known by many as CPS, has become so powerful. The people employed to make the "system" run as it is intended, do so with little to no regard for the law or the impact their decisions have on the real lives of families. Join Operation Stop CPS, as we put a stop to CPS's ability to mute the voices of the families negatively impacted by the Child Protection System. Help us magnify the voices of the unheard. Each episode will highlight stories of families who are being or have been ripped apart and/or railroaded by this oppressive system. As two seasoned child abuse and neglect investigators for over 10 years, Amanda and Tafarrah will help families tell their stories while exposing the judgmental and bias policies that CPS uses to justify their decisions.

Voices of the Unheard E2

Welcome back to the people who are ready to see change. On this episode of Operation Stop CPS's Podcast Series: Voices of the Unheard, Amanda will interview two mothers currently fighting to regain custody of their children from Durham County Department of Social Services (North Carolina). Alexis Wynn is the mother of Prince and Zion. Prince and Zion were wrongfully removed in 2019 after Alexis became a victim of domestic violence. Instead of providing Alexis with services, her children were taken into custody. Kellie Smith is the mother of Phillip and Ah'miyah. Ah'miyah was wrongfully removed in 2019 and then Phillip was taken in 2021. There was no evidence to prove that Kellie had abused or neglected her children but Kellie was preyed upon because she was a teen mother. Both of these mothers have completed all court ordered services yet their children have not been returned to their care. Listen in as we break down their cases and call the community to action.

Important Links
Visit Our Website: https://www.operationstopcps.com

Support our Work: https://www.operationstopcps.com/donation-page

Imprint Article: https://imprintnews.org/subscriber-content/united-nations-child-welfare-racism/67233

Support the Show.
