Staßfurt im Salzlandkreis

Der Ortsname Staßfurt geht aus den beiden kleinen Wörtern „Stas“ und „Furten“ zurück. „Stas“, ist die uralte Bezeichnung für die Bode, die durch die Stadt fließt. An mehreren seichten Stellen konnte die Bode durchschritten werden und man erreichte das andere Ufer. Diese seichten Stellen nennt man "Furt oder Flachstellen". Aus „Stas“ und „Furt“ wurde also Staßfurt. Im Jahre 806 wurde das damalige Dorf Alt-Staßfurt erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. In Staßfurt gibt es übrigens das einzige Binnensolfreibad in Mitteleuropa. Das Solbad ist als Folge des Tagebruchs der Saline entstanden. Das klare Wasser hat einen hohen Salzanteil, in dem man sich in den Sommermonaten fast schwerelos treiben lassen kann.
