About Osher WISE: Well-being and Integrative Science for Everyone (Audio)

The mission of the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health is to nurture health and inspire well-being in all people. Our educational programming, formerly known as Osher Mini Medical School for the Public, has been reimagined as Osher WISE (Well-being and Integrative Science for Everyone). This public education program offers courses on integrative health topics that are current and compelling, providing an opportunity for community members to become active, informed participants in their own health and well-being journey.

[…] And then in California, the state, through what's called OEHA, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, has fish advisories for bodies of water in California. So if you're buying fish that somebody has fished locally, or if you yourself are going fishing, you can look and see what's safe to eat versus what is not recommended or recommended in limited quantities. Pesticides can be really dangerous for the developing brain in pregnancy, probably associated with a number of health conditions, neurodegenerative disorders, et cetera. So really trying to think about integrative pest management strategies or way that you can decrease your use of any of these chemicals. […]
