My father, culturally, by nature being a Caribbean man, and perhaps being older, he was so affectionate with the people and the men in his life. I'm sort of warmed over by memories of just looking up and watching the conversations where my father would have his hand for minutes at a time on somebody's shoulder, or the sort of holding another man's cheeks, you know, while you're looking, like, ah, you know, so good to see you, so good to see you. Mark was 14 when his dad died. But as an adult, these memories sparked a curiosity about what physical affection between male friends can look like. […]
