On today's show:</p> <p><a href='https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/real-reason-colleges-are-arresting-student-protesters.html'>More students were arrested </a>for taking part in Palestinian solidarity and ceasefire encampments. Now more than 2,000 students have been arrested - more than at any time since the anti-Vietnam War demonstration of the 1960s. </p> <p>Another new poll finds that about <a href='https://inthesetimes.com/article/poll-yougov-uncommitted-biden-gaza-trump-election-battleground-states'>20% of voters in five key battleground states are less likely to vote for Biden in November </a>because of his handling of the Israeli assault on Gaza. </p> <p><a href='https://inthesetimes.com/article/uaw-mercedes-benz-alabama-volkswagen-uaw-union'>Tough loss for the UAW at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama</a>. To put it in the words of one Mercedes-Benz worker: “This is probably the most strategic and organized union busting campaign in decades.”</p> <p><a href='https://fortune.com/europe/2023/12/08/greedflation-study/'>Biggest study of “greedflation”</a> finds what most of us have suspected: big corporations, especially the big Fossil Fuel corporations, squeezed us for record profits while blaming it on “inflation.” </p> <p>Meanwhile, some scientists are looking to <a href='https://www.livescience.com/planet-earth/scientists-just-discovered-an-enormous-lithium-reservoir-under-pennsylvania'>fracking wastewater for a source of lithium</a> for electric car batteries. </p> <p><a href='https://buckscountybeacon.com/2024/05/new-report-exposes-the-cyber-charter-school-racket-in-pennsylvania/'>PA is the cyber-school capital</a> and our kids are worse off for it. In the period from 2018 to 2022, the cyber-charter industry gained an additional $485.5 million in taxpayer dollars to line the pockets of executives. </p> <p><a href='https://buckscountybeacon.com/2024/05/analysis-how-some-liberal-advocacy-groups-fail-voters-with-their-flawed-endorsements-of-rep-brian-fitzpatrick/'>National liberal groups are biting themselves in the butt</a> by fawning over Rep.
