Podcast Overview

Outta Line Podcast is a conversation between two men to unearth the nuances of Blackness. Black Motives- a Haitian Bahamian American straight man from South Florida- and DéRecco- a Black gay man from West Virginia - introduce dynamic conversations that are both mainstream and "outta line". Our conversations center on personal, and pop culture topics. In this space, we and our occasional guests, converse authentically, learn, and laugh with our genuinely inclusive community. P.I.B.S

<p>"To be a Negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a state of rage almost all of the time — and in one's work." — James Baldwin</p> <p>In this raw and unapologetically Black episode titled <em>PIBS</em>, @black_motives is joined by @Frednotes and @snapbackmac. He shares how James Baldwin’s courage and use of literature to analyze and critique the African American experience in the U.S. inspired him to write and record <em>PIBS</em>. Until May 9, 2020, @black_motives had largely observed police brutality through media, though no stranger to conversations and the study of white pathology and the oppression of Black people. <em>PIBS</em> became a form of expression that helped him reconcile his thoughts. His support group reminds him of the African proverb "Ubuntu"—I am because you are.</p> <p>To Bri and April, thank you for being present, thank you for being brave, and thank you for doing what Black women do daily to preserve Black life.</p>
