The Monster of the Forest: Interview with J. L. Thaxton
Today on the podcast, we are talking with Owl’s Nest author J. L. Thaxton about her newly released book, The Monster of the Forest.
About the book: Okay, new game, let’s all play Save the Town. The stakes are high and my arsenal is low... just a stolen bit of broken pottery and a whole load of questions. But with a monster roaming Varina at night and people getting hurt, I have no choice but to master my growing powers to unlock this mystery!
Fern Masden is ready to settle into a new normal now that she understands she’s a mythical creature living in a town for magical beings. But can life as a madremonte ever really be normal? When an old Varina family moves back to town, Fern has to balance her friendships, new powers, and protective instincts to handle some big changes happening in her new home. Add to that a nocturnal beast that keeps terrorizing the town, and Fern might just be in over her head!

About the book: Ever since her father’s mysterious death six years ago on Serpent Hill, Lilia Stepanovna has struggled to help her family make ends meet. Curious magic soon entwines her, though, and Lilia finds herself trapped by a sorcerer’s devious plot to seize the Russian empire.
Dmitri Petrovich always expected to follow in his parents’ footsteps as a stonecarver, until a terrible accident left both his hands, and his dreams, crushed. When his best friend, Lilia, is swept off to Petersburg under suspicious circumstances, Dmitri embarks on a perilous journey to save the girl he loves—and to stop the dark powers that are working through her to take over all of Russia.
