''His music takes the best of radio and stellar classic pop records of the 60’s and 70’s and brings it into the present'' says Rough Trade - i couldn't have summed things up better - I remember fondly when i first discovered Liam Hayes ''Found a Litte Baby'' single in 1994 under the Plush moniker - since then Liam Hayes in his Chicago HQ has done things his own way and prioritized quality over quantity. On the cinematic. front Liam Hayes recorded an amazing soundtrack for Roman Coppola (A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III) and performed in Stephen Frears cult High Fidelity. Liam Hayes acclaimed new album - (for exemple he is on Uncut playlist) - is called Dancing Backwards - and guess it's a an existential masterpiece seeing the maverick composer and performer exploring his life experience. Without Pat Mills and subsequently 2000 AD there would haven't been Alan Moore , Grant Morrison, Garth Ennis , Mark Millar and so many more - Living in Spain Pat Mils is still very much active working on a new serie : Ragtime Soldier based on WWI -A project that would shake the publishing world hopefully like Charley's War did. The horror of war in a time when some EU leaders would like to get the young killed at Kiev is more relevant than ever. Pat Mills to sum things up was to sequential art storytelling what John Lydon was to punk or Vlad al III-lea Țepeș was to impalers. All jokes aside - i'm proud to present you this new episode of my podcast - And let's not forget that without Pat Mills 's Marshall Law (with Kevin O' Neil) there wouldn't have been the Boys franchise !! Panorama Deluxe saison 3 episode 18 : Cold Cause et le vampire de l'amour
Il est toujours émouvant de découvrir un nouveau groupe au potentiel fort prometteur. L'association de Luiça au chant, Bruno aux synthés et machines, et Mathieu à la guitare sous le nom de Cold Cause ne remonte qu'a 2024, sous l'impulsion d'un hommage a Joseph Beuys mais à l'écoute de leur premier album on a l'impression qu'ils ont profité d'années d'expérience. S'agit il de Neue Deutsche Welle , de post punk, de new wave , de Dark disco ....qu'importe ....pourvu que comme me le confiait un jour Dieter Meier de Yello : ''le bon art est celui qui provoque des réactions''. Voire même des frissons ou encore mieux des incursions dans des univers que l'on a plus envie de quitter. Alors qu'ils jouent en Suisse, en Allemagne ou encore en France vous seriez inconscient de ne pas venir assister a leur prochain concert. En attendant soutenez la cause et acheter derechef leur album ou un romantisme du béton, de l'acier et du néon fait se rencontrer une certaine tradition romantique germanique avec une modernité cyber punk motorik ! La bande son du futur est enfin disponible dès maintenant !
