I listen to Podcasts, I don't watch them. Podcasts are modern Radio. The trend now is Video podcasts. The modern talk show. Listening is a lost art that leaves little room for distraction. This podcast is Audio only. And...my friends always told me “Guy….you have the perfect face for radio!" BTW: I've lived in Hawaii for 37 years now!...but don't feel sorry for me.
Testing the Podbean upload process with this short version. A few updates and stories as I ramble along.

Episode 14- Papa Guy Podcast "ALL THINGS HAWAII" with Scott Startsman
Scott and I expand our conversations outside of Real Estate a bit and share some stories about our experiences growing up, of living here in Hawaii, the contrasts of the Island of Oahu where Scott lives and the Island of Hawaii where I live. Lifestyle is one of the big attractions to be in Hawaii. It's almost always warm, we're surrounded by the Pacific ocean which is a gorgeous blue and the lifestyle is so much about the outside, the beauty and land and people here.

Video Introduction

Transitioning to Video so that we can present to you in both Video and Audio. I listen to podcasts as opposed to watching them. However, the recording side is going more and more to video so we are doing the same. Just a little intro as it is from this episode on that you can see video on YouTube and Spotify and still catch Audio on Apple Podcasts and other sites.

EP: 9 ENCORE: On Target Living
Aloha,
This is an encore presentation of my first podcast. I wanted to publish it again at the first of the year as it is a conversation with Health and Wellness entrepreneur Chris Johnson who created his own company On Target Living. With many of people's New Years Resolutions being about their health and wellness I thought this was appropriate to run again. Since this podcast ran a couple years ago, Chris published the book we talk about in the Podcast Rest Eat Move.
Enjoy if you have not listened or enjoy again. I have added a link in the show notes for the On Target Living website...you've gotta visit it. Great "natural" products to help with your health and nutrition. Here's the Link: https://ontargetliving.com/

EP 12: PART 1 Realtors R People Too-Scott Startsman. NAR settlement impact on Real Estate
PART 1: Scott and I discuss the pending settlement (yet to be approved by a judge) with the NAR (National Association of Realtors) and plaintiffs who sued the organization. The potential impact on the industry for Real Estate Agents, Buyers and Sellers. You can't talk about the settlement without discussing Real Estate, its practices, agents and their workload and what the public knows, or think they know about how the Real Estate business actually works. Including the scope of services and expertise agents can offer to Buyers and Sellers.
Some claim this will "Change Real Estate Forever." "6% commissions are gone," "Buying and Selling Homes will be so much less expensive." We discuss the myths and the likely changes in the industry and those things that may not change. Its a good conversation....join us.

Episode 11: HOW MUCH DID YOU SAY THAT COST?
We've all been affected by inflation over the last few years...as all consumers are. Living and working in Hawaii, already expensive to begin with we have to deal with a very high cost of living. This is a little lighter look at it with no economic expertise intended.

Episode 7..."And Eyes Full of Tinsel and Fire"
We offer congrats to the Detroit Lions winning the NFC north for the first time in 30 years!
I talk about how finding the annual Holiday Spirit and Joy of the Season can be challenging as we navigate the Triple Crown of Holidays that bring each year to an end Thanksgiving, Christmas and then the ringing in of the New Year. The World goes on around us as we hopefully find, in our respective lives, time to gather with friends and family and do things that well.....make the season bright.
I share some thoughts on the season for me now and some from the past. There are a couple of notes in here to links which I reference in the show.
The link below is to a live performance of the song "I Believe in Father Christmas" at the St. Brides Church on Fleet street in London a number of years ago with Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Ian Anderson, from the band "Jethro Tull" playing the flute. This song, for me, captures the magic and meaning of the season in its music and Lyrics.

Episode 4: Equality/Inequality in Women's and Men's Sports
In this Episode we launch a couple new segments in the show...the first is "The Best Medicine" portion of the show to bring a laugh or two to your day (kind of my version of Podcast stand-up) as well as the "Watch and Listen" segment where I talk about Podcasts worth lending an ear to and movies worth seeing.
In the main opinion topic I discuss some on going issues with sports in general and where there has been progress (In my opinion) in men's and women's sports, participation and access equity since Title IX came in back in the 1970's as well as the fan support levels are at the collegiate and professional level. I'll touch on Michelle Wie (the now out of retirement professional golfer) and her response to comments made about her on "The War Room Podcast" in a conversation between Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon. Where is the popularity meter in men's and women's sports and which sports may be more equitable as far as popularity among all fans. I talk about the broad television coverage of both Women's and Men's sports at the collegiate level and beyond and the progress made and the road forward.

Episode 3 "A Holiday Story"
This was a story I heard on the Paul Harvey Radio Show on the Armed Forces Radio network when I lived back in Japan in the
early 1980's. It's a great Holiday story encompassing not just the spirit of the Holidays but a message to carry something throughout the year.
It is simply me, retelling the story and I know you'll enjoy it as we enter this new year and look forward to the future.
