Christ and Politics, Week 4 - Day 5: Bold Faith, Not Comfortable Faith

Christ and Politics, Week 4 Day 5: Bold Faith, Not Comfortable Faith Devotional There is a kind of discipleship that looks good from the outside and produces almost nothing. It shows up to the right events, knows the right language, and feels at home in Christian spaces. But it never engages the world outside the building. It is warm enough to feel religious and not hot enough to matter. Jesus did not soften His words for it. He told the church at Laodicea He would spit them out of His mouth. Not because He does not love His people, but because He does. He knows what they were bought to be and what the world needs. Discipleship is not meant to make you comfortable. It is meant to make you bold. The Apostle Paul did not just absorb truth. He acted on it. He went into cities, reasoned in synagogues, stood before rulers, and gave his life for the gospel. He told others to follow his example, not because he was perfect, but because he was following Jesus with everything he had. Someone in your life needs to see that kind of faith. Not a polished performance. A real sinner following a real Savior. Be that example. Lukewarm is not a personality. It is sin. Let your discipleship push you out the door. Bible Verse “I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” — Revelation 3:15–16 (ESV) Reflection Question Is your discipleship producing boldness in how you engage the people and culture around you, or has it become a source of comfort that keeps you from stepping out in faith? Quote “Is your discipleship making you bolder in your tactics or more comfortable in your lukewarmness?” Prayer Lord, I have settled for comfortable faith, and that is sin. Forgive me. Set a fire in me that cannot be contained, and use my life to point others toward Jesus. Amen.

Christ and Politics, Week 4 - Day 4: Growth Takes Time, and That Is Okay

Christ and Politics, Week 4 Day 4: Growth Takes Time, and That Is Okay Devotional We live in a world that wants everything now. Fast food, fast results, fast transformation. Spiritual maturity does not work that way. It never has. God’s promise to heal a land, revive a people, and transform a culture does not come with a quick turnaround. It unfolds over years of faithfulness. Seeking God’s face is a lifelong pursuit. That means the fruit takes time. You do not get to skip the seasons. That is good news. You do not have to have it all figured out today. You are not the finished product yet. What God asks of you is faithfulness. Show up. Stay in the Word. Pray. Gather with your church. Keep following when growth feels slow. Grace does not excuse you from the work. Grace makes the work possible. Most real growth in a believer’s life does not come from dramatic moments. It comes from showing up over and over again. Sitting in the room. Listening. Absorbing. Obeying. Little by little, God shapes you into someone who looks more like His Son. Do not despise the slow days. God is doing more in them than you know. Bible Verse “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV) Reflection Question Where in your spiritual life are you tempted to give up because growth feels too slow, and what would it look like to choose faithfulness over frustration in that area? Quote “Seeking the face of the Lord is a lifelong pursuit. Therefore, healing a land is not an event. Healing a land takes time.” Prayer Father, I want results now. Teach me to trust Your timing. Keep me faithful in the slow seasons, because You are at work even when I cannot see it. Amen.

Christ and Politics, Week 4 - Day 3: Your Faith Has a Worldview

Christ and Politics, Week 4 Day 3: Your Faith Has a Worldview Devotional Next time you drive through your neighborhood, look at the yard signs. Every one of them represents a belief system. Nobody stumbled into those convictions by accident. They were shaped by a community, a culture, and a set of ideas handed to them over years. Put plainly, they were discipled into what they believe. So are you. Christians have a worldview, it is rooted in Scripture, and it is comprehensive. It speaks to the value of every human life, the design of the family, the nature of justice, and the lordship of Jesus Christ over all things. That worldview does not stop at the church door. It walks with you into the voting booth, the office, the school board meeting, and the dinner table. Some believers have been taught to keep their faith out of public life. That is not biblical. Your citizenship is in heaven, and that citizenship governs how you live on earth. The early church did not retreat from the world. They engaged it so boldly that their enemies accused them of turning the world upside down. Christ is Lord over every part of your life. Do not leave Him at home. Bible Verse “And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, ‘These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.’” — Acts 17:6–7 (ESV) Reflection Question Are there areas of your daily life, such as your politics, your parenting, or your workplace decisions, where you have kept your Christian worldview separate instead of letting it lead? Quote “Every one of those signs are an example of a worldview. They didn’t just happen upon that belief. It was a system that they were discipled in.” Prayer Lord, every part of my life belongs to You. Forgive me for the places I have kept You out. Give me courage to bring my faith into every room I enter, and bend my worldview to Your Word. Amen.
